when the phone salesman calls, try to sell him something instead: "no, but can i interested you in....?" or ask if he will barter for chickens, goats, etc. more fun. |

i don't even wait that long. when i answer the phone and there is a long pause, i hang up immediately. i had previously noted that all the telemarketers calls had that pause. i guess it's due to the fact that most of those services have been out-sourced to india and the like. |

it's mostly due to the larger telemarketing outfits running automated dialling systems. machine calls a series of numbers, and when it gets a pick-up (that isn't a fax or modem) then it dumps the live call into the "available agent" pool. next poor sap teleslave then gets the call dumped to his headset so he can reel off his script. |

ta i was just curious. as i've said before, we seem to have qld, nsw and vic covered, but that's about it so far. no-one else has popped up to say otherwise. funny that. what's wrong with the other states????? |
