lol, after 5 min. uhhh is this a geico commercial?
it is!!! or is this like sci-fi or what are cavemen doing in the present?

this is horrid! and yes it could be a methaphor for blacks or any race...

(weird question: wouldn't cavemen be able to shave? ...)

man, how much did they pay john heard to try to add some legitimacy to this
show?
i have to admit i didn't have high expectations for this show but now i can
say i did give it a try.
will heads fall at abc to the exec who greenlit this show?

i think i saw almost all of the recent pre-airs. this show gets my vote for
being the worst of them all.

i've got a theory on all the pre-airs showing up. i don't remember nearly
this many last year. i actually only remember heroes with a release. i think
its the networks doing it on purpose to gauge potential fan response and get
some free street cred/word of mouth going on the show. i don't think making
downloads of these from their websites, even if it were the same files, would
garner as big a following of users wanting to download them and they would
also have to pay for the enormous server space/loads thousands of downloads
would create. better to let the torrent networks and usenet handle the load.

i do find it two faced, if this is true, that they would do this and also
bitch about other tv downloading.

thanks for the post eztv!

about the show, it sucked - the jokes are all unfunny racist ones and there's
nothing really original about the story or even the characters.

producers send out screeners to critics for pre-release reviews, some get
leaked by messengers, assistants, etc

u heard wrong, they have their own websits for their own releases

when i first heard they were making a sitcom based on the geico cavemen, and
right after, heard there was going to be a movie about that creepy burger king
king, it was the kind of thing that leads to jokes along the lines of "signs
of the coming apocalypse."

but since it was here, i figured i'd give it a try. yes, it could be better,
and i can see the reasons mentioned. i was surprised to see it was changed to
a racial metaphor, when the commercials seemed to be primarily based on people
thinking cavemen would be unsophisticated and less skilled than "modern man."
whereas in the pilot, there were issues like people thinking cavemen were
prone to criminal behavior. maybe they figured they'd have more material by
going in that direction. and, it is true that there are people who treat
anyone who's "different" differently than they do "their own kind."

call me pc, but i think it's ok to point out that there is prejudice in the
world, and it's a good thing to show that just because people are different,
they're just as human and complex as anyone else. but yeah, it was sometimes
"forced." (minor spoiler: like when the lead fell into the firepit and his
shirt just happened to burn in just the right way, etc., that he ended up
looking like a stereotypical grunting, savage caveman.) but the way they
explored the issue of prejudice didn't bother me as much as the pilot for
"aliens in america" did, where the wisconsinites' reactions to the very sweet
exchange student from pakistan were just heinous and over-the-top.

anyway, overall, while it could use some improvements, i did enjoy cavemen
more than i expected to. watched it again today. what i liked: for
characters, i particularly liked the sarcastic one, and the fiancee's
mother*. no laugh track, always a plus. it's more dialog/character driven
than slapstick, and doesn't depend on "dumb people" humor or cringe-humor.
and hey, they used two different cake songs! they used quite a few known
songs; must've spent some budget on music rights (though most were short
excerpts, several without vocals.) the production values were decent, not
cheap looking. (for some reason, i was expecting something lower-budget from
a sitcom based on characters from tv ads.)

* the woman playing the fiancee's mom looked familiar, but i couldn't
remember from where, so i checked imdb. her name is julie white; guess i
primarily remember her as nadine from grace under fire. btw, she just won the
tony for leading actress in a play.

the show was horrendous! this is sooooooo getting cancelled!!! i can't believe
that it made it to the air! how stupid are these execs! geez! its a spinoff
of the geico commercials!!

do not bother watching, watching paint dry is more entertaining!
