sussed, ffdshow's mp3 decoder was crashing it. don't know why but it was.
edit: more specifically, it was the aud-x mp3 library for ffdshow that was
crashing it.

actually caph uses opendml on the releases which causes problems with software
and hardware players.

strange that it plays fine for some people, but not others.
given that this is the first i've heard of this problem, it might be more
strange that you're having it. i see no difference at all in the episodes, and
i don't think many others do either. perhaps it comes down to who's using
discrete codecs and who's using ffdshow -- or something along those lines?
that last caph episode had the audio/video interleaving set wrong. most avi
files have that set to 1 frame - ie. the file stores picture #1 with the sound
for that picture, then picture#2 with its sound, pic#3 with pic#3 sound...etc.
vavava
caph's file had an interleave of 15 frames - ie. 15 pictures with 0.5 seconds of
sound, another 15 pictures and another 0.5 seconds of sound.
that has less overhead and saves some space (0.3%) but it means you need to
store 15 pictures in memory while you are waiting for the sound. pcs can do
that, but standalone players often don't have enough memory, so they freeze up.
using virtualdub direct stream copy copies the data exactly but reorders it
with an interleaving of 1 frame. caph should check his stream interleaving
settings.

once again - if this one's encoded the same way as last week's - there is no
need to go attempting to rebuild the index or running the thing through virtualdub.
to make this playable on *everything*, simply load it into mpeg4modifier, change
the packed-bitstream mode, and re-save it. you'll notice the file size increases
quite substantially, and from that point on it'll behave normally.

like last week\'s caph rip of \"lost,\" this weeks
doesn\'t work for
me: the video
breaks up and the audio cuts out.
caph is doing something wrong during the encoding. repairing the index doesn\'t
help.

i had the same problem last week. me and a couple of other people. it didn\'t
worked on my dvd-player. and from computer, the audio was async after the
second half. this week, i haven\'t downloaded yet so don\'t know

last week this caph group totally screwed up the rip
it was unwatchable on any home player
would like to kick this group in the balls
their releases should be banned entirely
