i thought that this thread was to discuss the show in question "heroes" not the
fact that this version is the 350mb and not 700mb and not ... blah blah blah.
if you have a problem with the fact that this is the 350mb version - wait till
the 700mb or higher versions come out. stop complaining about it and be patient
- if you can't be patient try another site and see if they have it ... although
you probably won't get the same quality as on this great site.
oh and if you think i have overstepped here ... the same debate has been going
on with both stargate sg-1 and also atlantis and now this show. that is why
there are forums so that people can talk about things other then the show at hand.

as much as i hate to continue this discussion, because i believe these comment
sections should all be about the show, and the file in question, and as a way of
helping a person decide which file to download.
i'm watching via my x-box networked to my pc on a 28" wide screen. 99% of the
time the picture looks great on the 350mb files. better in many cases than the
tv channel outputs i get from regular tv.
i'd like to thank every single person who takes the trouble to produce these
torrents. my wife is in very poor health, and these shows really brighten up our
lifes.
as has been said, maybe one day when i upgrade my "cheap crappy" video and tv
equipment i'll have to start downloading 700mb + files, but right now, these
seem awesome. i'm sure they do to many other people. as indicated by the large
amount of people who download them.
thanks again everybody. i hope the guys that up these files are not too offended
by some of the negative comments.

seriously though, the 350mb versions get the job done as much as the 700mb
versions. only thing that one really has to worry about is whether there are any
serious flaws in the rip that affect the storyline of the show. ultimately, if a
rip can convey the story effectively then it has done its job. bickering about
quality is irrelevant.

exactly. we all know, for the most part what we are getting when we download a
350mb file.
the purpose of these sections is to enable you to read reports of any flaws, or
anything outside the norm for a 350mb show.
i know a ferrari is better than my old renault. i don't need to read an online
forum to find it out!
i just hate ungrateful comments. i felt i should say thanks, and point out that
many people are perfectly happy with these rips.

3 pages of shit!
i see that orly has the file marked as nuked, i see 38 comments on the main page
and think it must be really bad.
no, 3 pages of (in a whinging 3 year olds voice) "350mb is better" "no, 700mb
is" "no, 1gb is"
for fucks sake!!! get over it.
download whichever version you want.
this comments section is for this file only!!!!
you want a discussion (or maybe argument is the better word) over which versions
are better and which tv is better and who has the biggest plasma. start up a
thread in the general forum section. in fact i have a better idea. i'll start
one for you. i'm sure there will be enough hits on it to be on the first page
for an eternity
thank-you to legolas and k for pretty much being the only ones to have actually
made a comment about the file.
and my apologies to anyone else's comment that may have also commented on the
file as i was skipping through the rest of the shit. but these were the only 2
comments that were only about the file.

the visual difference in quality has little to do with one's eyes as it does
with the device it's being watched on.
on pretty much any monitor device the video is being watched on that has a
native resolution higher than the resolution of the video, you will see
compression artifacts. if the monitor has a resolution equal to or less than
the resolution of the video, you will see very little or none at all. (this is
assuming fullscreen video and not windowed video)
when you blow a 350mb video to full screen on a high res monitor or one of these
new hdtv screens, you will likely see many compression artifacts, especially in
gradients such as shadows or wall colors.
however, on a traditional ntsc television set which natively features around 480
vertical lines, the 350mb videos can appear to be near dvd quality. the 700mb
versions offer little more visual noticeable quality on such televisions.
i use a 31" 4:3 rca television from the early 90s to display my downloaded
videos and i can tell you that the 350mb versions look fantastic on it, far
better than any video quality i can get over our standard cable system. if it
were a 31" 720p television, i'm sure the quality of these videos would look
completely different.
my point to all this is, basically, don't assume that because you have the same
source material to someone else that you are viewing the same output as them.
it all boils down to the hardware being used.
on a more personal note, like many others, my own bandwidth isn't has open as a
lot of high speed internet solutions out there. not only do the 350mb versions
look good on my own setup, they are far easier for me to download and manage
than the 700mb versions. not everyone here can get transfers in the hundreds
of kb/sec range. so i am personally glad that the 350mb versions are around to
stay (at least i hope they are.) i only mention this because i've seen a lot of
comments lately that suggest they shouldn't be released anymore.

i didnt notice any audio glitches ... even if there is a problem , nothing
easily noticeable .
the only thing different is that the video looks a bit stretched horizontally.
i mean the top and bottom have been cropped and the same resolution is
maintained . so it looks slightly stretched that the previous episodes.
and the 700 mb release is obviously better , but it takes longer to download and
takes more space on my hdd .. so i dont download it

i noticed that the audio quality of last weeks rip was appalling, just distorted
and sounded like it was ripped at really high volume...
so this week i just got the hr

is it just me or is the video stretched a little? it feels too tall. i tried to
set a custom aspect ratio but after 20 minutes just gave up and watched the ep
as is.
did anyone else notice this?

its indeed heavily overcropped. just look at the eclipse in the opener! also the
sound is very distorted in the same way you get it when you play it too loud. im
gonna dl the hr and just downsample it myself i guess as theres no proper as of yet.
