ruggedruffian, we don't care about how much you love your t.v we we're just
having a civil discussion on size vs quality.
with 10,000 peers on the 350mb and only 1000 for the other you are clearly in
the minority.
take your b.s somewhere else & don't come back 'till you get some social skills
you retard

are we talking about size and quality and why a larger rip should come out first?
if you want to complain to someone who can hear you talk to the *release group* not eztv.
come on guys... its in the faq, we go over this all the time.
if you want 1080i hi-def... go and get the stream yourself...
also, there are other release groups not listed here under the eztv tag, if you can find them (i suggest irc)
go get em!

i'm a big quality addict, but the fact that i have 512k, and that i don't have
a plasma or lcd conected, makes the difference of te 350 to 700 pretty small,
(unless the file has issues with sync etc...)...
in a small tv set (21 inches), there is practical no difference at all...
i need to buy a 1080i screen!...

i can tell a big difference between regular and hr. i have a 42" lcd capable
of 1080p. the regular looks like regular tv/480p/vhs on my tv. hr looks like
dvd and little less detailed than 720p.
if you just have a regular crt tv just get the regular 350mb version, you
won't be able to tell the difference. it will look like its playing a regular
dvd.
i get spoiled with my xbox 360 hd-dvd playing movies at 1080p, so i can't bear
watching my fav tv shows at 608 x 352 (or whatever the rez is)

why the hell do people always complain about the 350mb one. it is better than
standard tv. on an average size tv it is fine to watch, but for all you people
who earn too much bloody money and have a big tv - freakin wait for the 700mb
you know that it is going to on a bit later they are every week.

350mb is good for one thing. fast releases. if you missed it, here's your chance
to watch it fast. if you can't handle the 700mb or larger ones, get a new
freaking hd. then again i'm a quality freak. otherwise, keep enjoying your 350mb
rips which are lower resolution than sdtv. kthx.
ok sounds great, i will give you my paypal id and you can send me the money to
buy one....ass. 350mb are good for many things, they are good for people who
don't have money coming out of every pore and/or people who couldn't give a
crap about hd or hr. so just try to think about being considerate, although i
am sure that is asking way to much.

i totally agree with croig, usually i read the " discuss posts" to find out if
maybe there is something wrong with the audio or pieces video missing. but
instead there is always the same discussion. isn't there a place on a forum
somewhere elese dedicated to the quality/quantity discussion?
if the release you want ain't here yet, check in later to see if it's there
then. just be glad eztv is giving us so much to choose from!

deansyuk: the only thing i can suggest to you is to get the newest version of
xbmc for updated codecs.
legolas: good rip audio great no proper comming, or needed.
jez2: sorry, although i have been d/l tv for years i'm new to #eztv and should
have looked elsewhere for the 350/700 debate. i was just a bit confused as to
why they were all complaining about 350mb so i asked what others thought of
350/700mb i didn't really expect it to blow out to almost 30 posts

i don't know if you guys are retarded or what. if you have
a 720p capable
plasma, you should be able to tell, or maybe it's because you got some cheap
crap and not pioneer's elite series which is unarguably the best plasma out there...
350mb vs 700mb is like night and day. i personally prefer my 5.7gb transport
stream recordings in full 1080i. even then there's still a noticeable difference
with 1080i and 700mb's ~900x500 resolution.
this is like asking 480p vs 720p. there's an obvious difference especially on a
big screen. even on my 19" monitor, there's a huge difference.
get your eyes checked guys.
350mb is good for one thing. fast releases. if you missed it, here's your chance
to watch it fast. if you can't handle the 700mb or larger ones, get a new

720p the is for hacks you can only really see the diff if you have a real tv
like the new 52in sony lcd the only real hdtv with 1080p in the future
ruggedruffian keep you comments to your self there is always someone with
something better than you!
ps thank you all who have been seeding!

350mb is not all that bad, it's compact and makes the best use of xvid
compression, and for guys with download limits, it's important if your getting
like half a dozen tv shows off the net per week.
on my 68cm 4:3 tv (around 27inch) it looks fine in 16:9, but if you insist on
zooming to 4:3 it will start to degrade, and there are other faults, but most
people won't even notice the difference between it, and watching normal tv on
68cm or so tv.
if you own a 70cm (28inch) widescreen tv, it will probably still look ok, but
it's when your getting above that when it really starts to look low grade.
so if you do have a 'big' or widescreen tv, your probably better off with a
700mb or more rip.
of course there is stuff that makes even the 350-700mb rips look average at
times, even on smaller tv's, stuff like solid colour backgrounds, night time or
just low lit scenes.
the bsg rips really suffer from being 350mb rips, the whole show is dark sets
with really low lighting, i'd be getting the 700mb rips if i could find any,
because 350mb just looks really average when it's so dark, but it's a known
mpeg4 issue...

damn sraight thebishop.
i download the hr releases if they are really awesome episodes.
im one of those people who have a download limit (7gb peak + 14gb off peak) and
i barely make it throught the month with 350mb rips.
also i cant play hr.xvid on my divx certified dvd player.i havnt tried
converting the hr into divx yet. only the 350mb rips work on it. which is a
bummer cos i got 32" samsung lcd and i can really see the lack of detail on the
screen. but im not compaining. i watch the eps on my 17" crt first which look
crystal clear
