here is an interesting revelation, i just read on digital spy (uk media news
site) about the day break cancellation and they mention it has been picked up in
the uk by bravo (cable/satellite channel). if the remaining episodes are
streamed online by abc with restricted access or appalling quality maybe bravo
will be showing the full series...

of course bravo may not show it at all now its a proven ratings flop!

or it'll air sometime in australia. our networks have an annoying habit of
picking up cancelled shows, playing the entire season and leaving you in the
lurch wanting more.... d'oh!

i understand where you think you are coming from gatefan, in regards to if more
people actually watched them while they were on tv then they wouldnt get
pulled....(at least not as often.)(i used to think the same way til someone
pointed me in the right direction....and told me she used to be a nielson
household)

but what krypto said is right when he talked about the nielsen household and
the box that hooks up to your tv, its true..just cuz we(normal viewers) watch
the show doesnt mean our watching gets counted towards the ratings...its the
selected households whose opinions count....which really sucks cuz there are
sooooo many people im sure who do watch the new shows and love them, yet their
opinion doesnt matter at all! its very frustrating to us "normal" viewers!!

i for one and going to miss daybreak..i actually watched it on tv rather than
d/l it....but my opinion doesnt count..which sucks! lol i thought it was a
good show and it kept me wanting more. it wasnt the best show out there, but
they only planned to run it while lost was on hiatus and that was as far as it
was supposed to go.

does anyone know how you can get one of these nielson rating boxes in your
household?(i asked my friend and she wasnt sure how her house got selected) i
would definately do their surveys and watch the shows..just so my opinion can
count.

one of my friends came with a good idea to stop a lot of series.
we are all living in a world where the internet got a place in our lives.
why don't the people who order series ask the public what they want in an
serie?
why don't they ask how the serie should evolve?
why don't they use the public to tell them if they like it or not, there are a
lots of forums they can use, but the question is do they read and use the
material the people post there???

they ask the public if they like a show that what the ratings are maybe the
nielson system is not perfect but just like in any poll u can't ask everybody
and there is no better way to do it.
as for shows that ask the public in what direction it should go there are some
,mainly crappy soaps and it would never work because the public is dumb(not
everybody is a writer). in a world where deal or no deal has better ratings than
prison break it just can't work

so, why don\'t abc just move the show from primetime to a less attractive time?
they have to understand that a lot of people wants to see some kind of
resolution to the story. there is 13 eps ready to be aired isn\'t it?
[#9551] Written by: argrow [21/12/2006, 20:10]
because abc don't 'own' the times outside of primetime, late night (nightline
and jimmy kimmel), and some of the daytime for soaps, 'the view', gma and abc
news. the other times are of the affliates.

can sumone rip the eps like vanished and kidnapped

thanks in advance and f u to aol

what difference does it make if you show 6 or 8?

why not just rearange the time rather than cut it totally

or make a channel for rejects or repeats!

common sense!

dumass ceos they got!

somebody asked how you get selected to be a nielsen household...

they select randomly from the cable service providers.. and they normally only
select from households that have a long and good history with the same
provider.... meaning if you moved, and now have a new cable company, you won't
be picked.. and if you forgot to pay your bill a couple times in the past,
you're out too..

basically, the only people that get picked for a neilsen box are old people..

that's right, i said it.... old people decide our tv ratings..
doesn't it make sense now why there are three versions of law & order, three
versions of csi, and many other similar investigation shows... while all the
good sci-fi and action shows get cancelled ??

so i say fuck nielsen...
those discriminating bastards should be put out of business for running a
company that defies anti-trust and monopoly laws anyway..
[#9654] Written by: stdesy [22/12/2006, 23:20]
what surprised me is that a mega size cable company like comcast never just
slipped somewhere into their terms of service a line like:

"for statistical survey purposes, your viewing records will be property of
'cable company x'. for your privacy, these records will not be identified with
your name or address but shall be used for batch analysis only."

whoever did this would have enough statistical data to blow nielsen out of the
water, and provide more consistent, accurate, and real-time data to the
networks, advertisers and the public at large about who was watching what.
