"abc is shuffling its deck chairs once again, pulling both wednesday newcomers
"show me the money" and "day break" from its schedule effective immediately."

it has previously pulled six degrees and the nine - both series' were shelved
but not cancelled.

"both "money" and "break" hit series lows this past wednesday among adults 18-49
(a 1.7 rating for the former and a 1.4 rating for the latter), making the news
not much of a surprise. "break" had previously been set to run through december
27 before going on hiatus.

the network is expected to stream the seven remaining episodes of "break" on
abc.com.

the news marks the alphabet's >> first official cancellations << of the 2006-07
season. still sitting on the shelf, but technically alive are "extreme makeover"
(three episodes yet to air), "help me help you" (four), "the nine" (six) and
"six degrees" (seven)."

this is officially a cancellation for day break. a shame - but at least we will
get to see the remaining episodes.

anybody think this may result in an earlier return for lost? i doubt they will
as they've been advertising it for 02/07/07... but would be really nice.

wednesdays
8:00/7:00c - "george lopez" (as of jan. 24)
8:30/7:30c - "according to jim" (as of jan. 3)
9:00/8:00c - "the knights of prosperity" (as of jan. 3)
9:30/8:30c - "in case of emergency" (as of jan. 3)
10:00/9:00c - "primetime"

"day break" (households: 2.8/4, #12; adults 18-49: 1.4, #12)
these are the ratings that have resulted in the cancellation. 2.8/4 is pathetic
for an abc primetime slot.

abc's excecs must be on effin crack. they complain that not enough people
watch their new shows so they pull them. why the hell would we want to keep
watching your new shows if you are going to pull 75% of them?!?!

dude - they only pull them when the ratings aren't good enough. i'm not trying
to be nasty (for once) but your post was just stupid. they won't pull 75% of
them if you did keep watching them... your post... it just... didn't make any
sense really.

"day break" (households: 2.8/4, #12; adults 18-49: 1.4, #12)

2.8/4 in an abc primetime slot. they'd be "on effin crack" if they didn't cancel
a show like that. it's a shame yes, but when a show is doing that bad in that
slot on that network it needs to go.

fyi - the garza murder will be solved before the end of season one, and hopper
will make it to tomorrow before the end of season one. you will not be left with
an open storyline.

my point was they come out with all these shows, then pull all of them. they
complain that not enough people watch them, but i for one don't want to keep
watching shows that end up getting pulled.

and yes, the ratings where pretty bad.. but i just can't stand this trend
(especially by abc) of killing one show after another. they need to either
figure out what shows they have an audience for before they air and stick with
those shows, or figure out some way to market the new shows better and/or find
an appropriate timeslot for them. as it is now they are losing both money and
viewers.

it wasn't a bad show (9.1/10 user rating on tv.com). i guess i'm just sort of
fustrated that abc just pulls shows as a first-resort instead of trying to
market them better. i think the way it was promoted now left viewers confused
and unsure what the show was about...

the folks at tv.com said it may partly be due to racism. they pointed out that
there are virtually no (popular) currently running tv shows that the main
character is black. if that's the reason, tv viewers should be shot.

now instead they're gonna air repeats of george lopez and according to jim.
*rolls eyes*

damnit!!!!! that was a really good show, and something to tide me over since
every other show i watch is on break (even bsg....finale last night). now, i
have to watch it all shitty and small because abc is too busy licking balls to
leave a good show on the air.

i think the whole conspiracy show genre is getting burned out. i've been
watching daybreak, it's not the best show but it's not bad. they made a nice
attempt at refreshing the genre with the repeating-day thing but it just wasn't
enough.

and us canadians get the bad end of the stick again. i wonder if our viewer
ratings even effect tvshows that are kept. if americans cancell we dont get it
either, but then they dont air it online for canadians, with any luck some one
will post it. i really liked this show along with half the toehr shows that have
been cancelled. some times you really dont see the point in watching new shows
just for it to get cancelled.

i watched the first 2 episodes then got bored... what a stupid idea for a tv
show. to keep ratings shows have to bring new ideas to the table not rewinded shit!

and my point was that they wouldn't pull the damn shows if people like you
actually watched them. if you don't watch them because they're going to get
pulled, don't complain when they do get pulled because people like you are not
watching it. does anybody else here get where i'm coming from, cos clearly he
doesn't?

his point makes perfect sense - by pulling shows without giving them a chance it
really discourages viewers from picking up new shows in the future. if you
start watching a couple of shows one season, and both get cancelled without ever
finishing off an important storyline, next season you're going to think twice
before bothering with a new show. especially any new serialised drama. the
networks really do shoot themselves in the foot when they cancel shows early
without allowing them to wrap things up.

downloading of course gives us an advantage - there are a few shows this season
that i have on my 'will download if it survives' list. so i don't get caught
out like i did with my beloved heist last season.

bite me both of you. too damn ignorant to see what i'm saying. fine whatever.
abennett - yes i get what you're saying, but i'm saying that if people just
watched the shows in first place they wouldn't frelling pull them in the first
place would they! but w/e i don't care. i cba. you live in your own stupid
little world, i'm not fussed. toodles.

i'm not sure if gatefan realizes this... and i know for a fact that a lot of you
make statements that confirm you don't understand either.. so....

simply watching a show does absolutely nothing for its ratings.. it does not
help decide whether a show gets cancelled or not...
you specifically have to be a selected nielsen household, and have a nielsen
media ratings box hooked up to your cable...
that, and the survey's they send out during sweeps are the only way you
can have an effect on shows.

so stop babbling incoherently about how everyone should watch a show to keep it
on the air... it doesn't work that way !!..
