i greatly appreciate the upload but i have one question, what kind of computer
might you need to properly play these videos? (i also use media player classic
for video playback, can't be bothered with vlc or core)
[#7502] Written by: realjjj [08/12/2006, 18:18]
the best way to play this is coreavc, instal also the haali media spliter that
comes with it,and play in media player classic, bsplayer and so on...
vlc is using more resources then coreavc so it's not a good idea.
now an opinion about eztv upping this
as long as it doesn't reduce the # of shows uppped or the #s of hr versions
released it's good to offer more options to ppl, but atm i'm happy with the 350
mb files.

brilliant seeing an 720p episode posted. looking forward to seeing more of these
in the future!

it'd be great to see more 720p uploads - maybe even some 1080i stuff, i go
elsewhere for mine usually, but if eztv has em, then they are fulfillin nearly
all my dload needs. u only really need do the top 5 shows, heroes, lost,
jericho, prison break & new s6 of 24 when its on, maybe daybreak.

lets see more of these pure hd releases guys...

ps anyone got any tips on convertin mkv's to sd dvd video ts, i use
convertxtodvd, but they always lose sync all over the place, awesome quality
video tho, better than hr.hdtv anyday. but of anyone knows a converter that
maintains sync, let me know.

cheers

i think 720p copies are a great idea. the world is making the switch to hd, and
its about time for higher quality copies.

as stated by others, you definitely need to use coveavc to decode x264.
without it, even media player classic (mpc) is choppy or out of sync.
of course, this is only worth it for those who enjoy watching on their
pc screen, which i don't.

for me, i visit two hdtv sites where i get 720p versions (or .ts) of
heroes and stargate atlantis. but from there i use river past software
to convert from 1280x720 to 720x480. from there i can transfer them to
a dvd as *.avi files which my hdmi-capable xvid-enabled dvd player can
read (720x480 is the max res). i would need to have a blu-ray dvd player
to play the 720p versions (not going to pay for that anytime soon).

in other words, the 720p file is pointless for my dvd player, except that
it can up-convert to my hdtv 1080i resolution. currently, my only other
solution which i am investigating is to purchase an hdtv media streamer
(player) such as dlink dsm-520 or linksys kiss dp-600. these allow a wifi
connection to your pc network to access your audio/video files.
does anyone have any experiences to share with these media streamers ??

yeah, 720p releases here would be sweet.

i have a mac though, does anyone know a good program to play these 720p mkv
files? i tried playing a sample that i got from a 720p heroes, and it was jerky
in vlc. i got mplayer os x, which also played it, and that was better but still
jerky. anyone know a better player?

it's possible it's not the player that's the problem - x264 at this resolution
takes a lot of grunt to play smoothly, your machine may not be up to it. :/
[#7527] Written by: lesbian [08/12/2006, 22:15]
maybe...my machine's not too old, and pretty good, but that's probably what's up.

how about releasing in .mp4? unless you're using subs or
chapters, i don't see the need to release in .mkv (i'm hoping in the future
stand-alones will play these .mp4, but not sure of .mkv would be supported)

mp4 container does not support ac3 audio.
it is worrying tho, the big manufacturers might decide to snub mkv (warez
reputation apparently)... let's hope not
[#7531] Written by: mohsenh [08/12/2006, 22:48]
hey,

from what i see mov is the most complete and up to date container. why not make
mov formats so that it could eventually be used in ipods as well. btw there are
open source formats like ogm that support the same stuff as the mkv does.

thanks

i watch everything on my laptop, so my only concern would be that these files
aren't watchable on slower machines (due to cpu-reqs).

also, i don't like matroska, which is very "not invented here".
