you do realize that watching a show about a
transsexual will
not actually cause
your penis to fall off, right?
totally not true, it has been proven that in the majority of cases of long term
exposure to the specific form of radiation put off by transexuals and the very
topic of transexuals will cause the male genitals to wither and atrophy, and
eventually slough off like dead skin.
just based on this episode: best new show of the fall.
i'm really excited about this one. it's really tense and feels really
emotionally genuine (save for maybe some of the parts involving the 30-year-old
teenagers).
i care about bob. i care about his panties.
i'm hoping they put the whole season in the can, so that even if it gets
canceled, they'll probably get a dvd release and i can still see all of it.
oh, and although it's pointless to pick on bigots for doing that thing they do,
i will point out that if i went around here posting a comment on every single
show i intended not to download, i wouldn't have much free time left...
i also don't call up my mother every time i change the channel or look at a
different object in the room.
interesting show. it reminded me a lot of six feet under. and just like sfu
wasn't "about" funerals, this isn't "about" transgenderism. it's about
secrets. everyone in the show has secrets, and the show explores how they deal
with their secret, or how their secret affects them and those around them.
it's also about the world of the upper-middleclass. if i had any complaints at
all about pretty handsome it would be that it puts poor blythe danner in yet
another cliche role as a blueblood matriarch. but she was the only one in the
cast we didn't get much of hint as to their secret, so i suspect her secret
will rely on us assuming she's playing the cliche role again (again, reminds
me of sfu and ruth fisher).
i do hope this makes it into production, but i fear it will come up against
prejudice like we've seen here. people will try to keep it off the air without
ever seeing an episode.
i thought it was excellent. lots of tension between the characters.
i think blythe danner's secret is that she knows what he is and has been trying
to keep him a him since he was a boy. you saw her reaction when she saw the
costume and the flashback to when he was a kid.
very interesting show !! the actors are great. very good performance by everybody. it's a mixes of touchy,
funny, sometimes hilarious and also kind of a guilty pleasure. the choice of the music is perfect. it's not
the new songs you can hear on your usually series. the lead character is torn between his family, what
people will think and his true desire. since the all family seems to have some issue, not related to the main
character's issue, it will be pretty interesting to see the evolution of the story, i look forward to see the
rest of it.
this show was a very well written. the multiple stories seen through every
family member kept me interested throughout the entire episode. one aspect i
was not too fond of would be some of the cinematography was a bit odd going
from 1 style of shot to another that (i feel) did not work and if it wasnt
there this show i would give a solid 9/10 but for this reason alone i have to
give it a 7.5/10.
looking forward to seeing the next episode.
on a side note .....
do not be afraid to give this show a chance on the basis of "it seems gay" or
any other "homophobic" reasons. there are several story lines that have nothing
to do with the main plot about 1 man's struggle with his sexuality.
all in all with alot of new shows conibg out ( no pun intended hehe ) having
shows like this on television keep tv from becoming to stale.
great show. don't let the subject turn you off, it's well done and captivating.
i went into this show with a fairly negative attitude but i'm impressed. it's
well done. i'll be interested to see if they can maintain the tension and how
various themes and idea play out.
i
doubt it, seeing as it most likely won't make it past 3 episodes, tops. here's
hoping it never even makes it to air. :disgust:

i mean, come
on, this is 2008, it ain't no big deal and yet it is... judging by some of the
comments here. it's amazing that we still can't accent people for what they
are.
live and let live, you know.
yeah, that's the same argument nambla
uses.
you people can call me a "hater" all you want. "transgendered" people are
sick, plain and simple. sick in the head.
i guess it shouldn't surprise me when people trash things they haven't even
seen, but it still does.
well the fact is that the bulk of the world's population is inhabited by people
who don't see much beyond their own range of vision, can't think or condone
anything that doesn't fit inside their little box and have scorn for anything
they can't or won't understand.
so don't watch this if you only crave the normal crap those same people lap up
day to day.
but if you want something of quality and originality, grab this.

and how does my our anyone's sexual subconscious relate to someone having
intercourse with small boys exactly? oh, wait... it doesn't. another
transphobic idiot rears their ugly head spewing venom without any basis whatsoever.
