what i have to wonder is, who gives a shit about her anymore. she's dead, get
on with your lives, people.

yes, she is dead, but do you realize how many people that we still remember and
honor for the things they did in their lives? we learn about them in school, we
write papers about them and they too are dead and gone. should we also forget
about these people because they are dead? does them being dead make their
lives and what they have done for the world obsolete?

*shrug*

i'm one of the few brits that didn't seem to be susceptible to the mystifying
mass hysteria when she kicked the bucket.

i didn't give a fuck about the vapid bint whilst alive - i doubly don't give a
fuck now she's dead.

get a grip.

what the fuck did she do that was so "great"? some charity work at best. so she
did charity work against landmines and to make people with aids more accepted.
big flipping deal. i can name a dozen other people who did more for this world,
but you don't see them getting concerts, now do you? she's famous for
marrying, that's it. she lived every little girl's fantasy of growing up to be
a real princess. big fucking deal.

yeah, i'm an asshole. but at least i didn't marry into an inbred "royal" family.

i bet people who watch this are the same ones who watch "american idol". idiots.

why do some people voluntarily put time & effort into things they find so
distasteful?

how much better would their lives be if that time & effort was put toward
something they had a positive attitude about?

we'll likely never know; what a shame.

im not stunned at the lack of respect around here, there are quite a few
immature people who like to boost themselves up by putting others down.. i
guess they feel better about their sad lives for a while & the pain is dulled
after they say something scathing.. its also their age, if you think about it,
they are probably still in school & have no idea as to the real world..

no matter what your opinion on princess di, this was an incredible concert.
how many contemporary public figures could generate such a tribute ten years
after their death? would george w. bush get a similar tribute? i think not.

true enough.

i don't have a problem with diana, per se. she was a rather typical, somewhat
dim, english socialite from the fringes of aristocracy who got into a fucked
up marriage to a fucked up family in a fucked up situation, then got out
again. at which point she surrounded herself with pr wizards to effectively
photoshop on a halo after a little bit of charity work.
so far, no big deal - none of the above made me care one iota about her,
either way.

the big issue i have is that after her fucked up death the world had a
collective mental breakdown and turned her into some sort of bizarre
hysterical religion.

that's the part i just fundamentally don't get.

there is a technical term for what is happening here , it's called trolling.
this is when someone posts an inflammatory statement with the intent of
generating a certain heated reaction. some people just get off on doing this.
this being the case i would suggest if you see something you don't like on this
forum just remember everyones entitled to an opinion , even ignorant fools.

she did far more than a 'little' charity work. she was not dim, not fucking
close. the world did not have a mental fucking breakdown, we(the world) just
mourned her, she did more good and was a better person than most people in the
world. she cared and had an unfillable(my word) capacity for love and
generosity. she was far from infallible, she had her share of problems, with her
marriage and alleged affair, just like every other human being. she married
because of love, she left because that love had gone, but the love she had for
helping people propelled her to her independence from the royal family, of
course she was known for her marriage, who wouldn't be, i'd prefer to read about
her life, fuck ups and not, than paris hilton or hitler. i'd rather hear about
the good (which was embraced by her) than the bad or the stupid. she was and
still is an icon for good and hope, which has kept her and her causes alive and
still in the headlines. people cared more about her than most other people
because she did make a visible difference. and your last statement about
turning her into some bizarre hysterical religion is just fucking nuts on your
part. people loved her, were inspired by her, people were helped by her, lives
were saved because of her and people she worked with. attention was bought to
serious subjects because she was a princess, she used what she had, and that was
her status. she used it to do good things, she helped so many people, right down
to the smallest charities, spending her time with the sick and injured.
