is this the 2005 sci-fi movie, or is this really a 2007 s01e01?
if it's the 2005, calling it s01e01 is misleading.

kurai, i'm sure the original pilot was quite different
oh, i'm sure you are right. i was mostly just being pedantic for it's
own sake
there really is very little in the world of tv that's truly original -
especially science fiction, which is almost ironic when you think about it.
[edit]
well ... having now actually watched this new `re-tooling` i've got to admit
all the arguments about precedence and ripping off are all somewhat irrelevant.
the show is ... bad. just ... horrible.
i'll grab the 2nd when it comes out next week, in the unlikely hope that it
somehow miraculously improves, but realistically i suspect that just ain't
gonna happen. i have a strong hunch this one is heading straight for the
recycle bin of history.
ho hum.

i enjoyed this show (but i keep thinking of kristanna muff diving)
and i enjoy heroes, and the only similarities i noticed was the look of the
doctor
also i am glad i dont read books or comics because i think most of the movies
and tv shows based off of books/comics would be ruined for me if i was into
the book or comic
sometimes ignorance is bliss

kristanna loken (terminator 3: rise of the machines) plays
jane vasko, a dea
agent who discovers that she has an amazing ability to heal rapidly from any
injury. she is recruited by a secretive government agency that tracks down
genetically enhanced individuals
sounds like a ripoff of heroes
heroes was a ripoff of the 4400.

for me,i really enjoyed it,looking forward for the next ep.
the only downthing was the, hmm, not so good image quality.
and i don't really get it with all this rip off flaming, makes no sense to me at
all
and yes i watch heroes,4400,torchwood and so on and on,sometimes i get the
feeling some people have lost the way of just enjoying a show, all is about
ripping everything into pieces.

wow, just wow.
we should start implementing some sort of iq test before posting is allowed.
sort of like a captcha for the mentally retarded.
i agree with the general consensus here. the show sucks. the reasons have all
been listed here. this looks like what you might see on public access tv.

stop comparing a comic-based tv series with the show heroes. heroes is an whole
new epic installation in superhero-tv-series.
don't tell me you compare men in black with x-files too.
similarities does not merit 'rip-off'.
besides, painkiller jane was written long long before heroes was even
considered. yet, they should revolve the show around her and her ability while
fighting crime. they shouldn't focus on storylines with poor enemy names like
'neuros' and 'vonotek'. can't they for once just call all those neuros, mutants,
superheroes, personne extraordinaire for what they really are: the future.
perhaps that would consider them to stop killing them like cockroaches.

i sure hope it's not like heroes. heroes is for comic geeks of
30 years old
who still live with their mother. :-p
besides, heroes is a rip-off of any comic/movie/series that includes
superheroes. just because it's big doesn't mean it's 'the original'. to think
that is just shallow-minded and typical of fanboys.
i hope painkiller jane lives up to it's expectations. it should be a lot
darker and grittier than heroes, but on the other hand not a dark angel rip-
off. still, it probably won't live past 2 seasons.
heroes is original because it doesnt have people immediately accepting and
loving there powers, they dont immediately dress up in spandex and go fight
crime. its more a grown up comic for those who have grown up with comics.

i don't care if this is a rip-off or not... the actors are horrible (sure she's
nice to look at but that's it) and the script could just as well come from some
porno.

well even if the story seems to be coming from an orignal comic, all that
negative comment aren't encouraging for those who want to see this show. i think
this serie worth a try, even if this doesn't fulfill what we might expect from a
great show.
