@neoqbirdie, that's a pickle. do you have the newest xvid (1.1.2-01112006 -
koepi.org) installed? if so, go into your ffdshow video settings (or the vfw
one if your card only supports that). click the codecs tab on the left and try
changing xvid decoding to xvid instead of libavcodec.
some other things you can try - rebuild the index with divfix
(divfix.maxeline.com), unpack the bitstream with mpeg4modifier (moitah.net) if
it's packed.

actually my mkv 350mb release *is* 576p.
(of course not hd - doctor who wasn't filmed in hd)

if anyone else has trouble with this in the future... mine was just a blank
green screen.. i used the free program 'super' to easily convert the file into
an avi file with the program's default codec/settings. and now it works on my
player...
