sorry if this has been answered; too many posts to read and spoilers to avoid!
this version won't play on my dvdplayer due to the audio, divfix can't fix it.
quick fix seems to be to rip/demux audio to .wav, convert it to cbr mp3 then put
it back in.
-i used virtualdubmod to rip the audio to wav (they call audio 'streams').
-any audio app should be able to convert wav to mp3 (make sure it stays about
the same length, mine was 0.2s different using jetaudio but didn't affect the
lipsync)
-use virtualdubmod again to disable original audio stream and add the new cbr mp3.
make sure you set the video to 'direct stream copy' or it will take ages
re-encoding!
this took less than 5mins as i already had the apps. hope this helps someone!

for everyone complaining that the show shouldn't have ended...your wrong.
don't get me wrong, i love sg-1, however the show is running thin on ideas,
specifically enemies to ward off.
first it was the goauld for a long time, with other enemies interspersed. you
had the replicators, then more goauld. finally you are now fighting the
ori...essentially as close to all powerful gods as you can get. what is left to
fight? what could be harder to defeat than beings of pure energy that can make
anything happen?
it was a good time to end the series and let sga and possibly a second spin-off
take over. my only complaint was that they didn't let the series actually finish
off the ori, instead making you buy the movies. it just seems to cheapen the
series to me ending with so many loose ends, whether they are tied up in the
movie or not.

actually, you kind of have this sideways (as not, \"not exactly backwards\" ). the
decision to kill the show was made *after* the full plot treatment for the ori
arc was finished. there was literally no more show to put the plot into, but
they already too much material to fit in the season. the only options left to
the studio was to ask mgm to give them permission to make direct-to-video movies
-- which was granted -- or to compress the story even more than it is.
pretty much the same deal as farscape. (maybe ben and claudia are cursed in that
respect? god, i sure hope not.)

the end of the longest running sci-fi show ever. rip sg-1
let the power of the people shout until they bring it back....
hardly the longest running sci-fi show. star trek holds the all time record and
it will stay that way for a long time. plus the show is not really canceled (
star trek )

it's sad to see it end (tv show). a show that made us dream... travel to other
galaxies, new planets, species, new thecnology and so many other things!
but remember... this all started with a movie (and what a great movie it was!),
i guess it's a good idea to end it like it started.
like many of you, i grew up watching this show and when they release it on the
cinema, i will watch it no matter what the critics say...
i will always be a fan of sg-1!
see you soon sg-1

except for doctor who... even if you don't count the break and the new
seasons of that, it still ran for 20-something years.
edit: whoops, been well argued already, sorry!

my english is not so good but i find this on tv.com
" what powermongers at sci-fi and the like don't understand is that a series
like this is not just a piece of entertainment - for many people, myself
included, stargate has been with me for 10 years of my life - just stop there
for a moment and think about it - it is 10 years of one's life for crying out
loud! it has been my companion, my guide, it became something like a
child/loved person. it has helped me in my everyday matters, it had such an
impact in my life that it can't be described in words. and that is precisely
the thing that sci-fi morons don't understand or don't care to understand: the
importance of such one show for some people.
so, i must say, at the end, i just feel like i lost something very very
valuable, something i loved very much and foolishly belived it would always be
there for me.
i know, i am pathetic, but that's the way i feel. "
p/s/ great words !

this reminds me of the farscape incident. scifi channels loves to make shows,
get them to the top, and then cut them at the height of their popularity (or
story lines).
personally, i believe season 8 was the best for stargate sg-1... though the ori
story-ark has a lot more potential than scifi gave a chance to.
anyway, it seems the fans tried their best to save the show and scifi wants none
of it. the last episode was very interesting, and while many might say it does
not lead towards the movies... i think it does. (avoiding spoilers there...)
i also think doing a movie, even if it is straight to dvd... could mean a much
better (much more deserving) ending.
