garbage men, they take out the trash!
they take it upon themselves to clean up the streets.
i would watch that!
think your onto something there, all the bin men are ex desert storm vets who served together, they
could move to a different neighborhood every week solving issues, eg feeding stock brokers &
politicians into the crusher...end of every episode would show them parked up sinking beers &
smoking heroin after dumping their load in land fill..., ...it could be called 'taking out the
trash' or 'trash men'
initially i was kind of leaning towards agreeing with the complaint, however, you sir, got your point
across very well, it does make sense and we're forgeting that these shows are actually business and as
such business rules prevail.
already been done...may i refer you to the estimable series "common as muck"
imdb.com/title/tt0108729/ the trials and tribulations of a group of binmen brought together by
their common love of their job.
on garbage men, prostitutes & ''other peoples money':

the very worst kind of garbage man was made into a film based on an australian tv series.
not only did it work, it was utterly hilarious.
fair enough - and i remember we had a garbage men movie with the estevez bros (sheen being the
stage name martin chose) called men at work.

i'd just make three points:
-i was only saying that the criteria i laid out applied to tv dramas. movies are a whole other animal
since a sequel (equivalent of a second episode) is relatively unusual for dramas. with movies making a
drama would be like making a one shot tv film or perhaps making a pilot but no additional eps (tho'
that'd be a really bad business decision). also, tv comedies have a whole other set of conventions,
which is why unoffensive (bordering on blah) repetitive and totally formulaic sitcoms still dominate. i
still
don't see how you'd make a hooker or garbage man tv drama (unless they're nontraditional detectives
- which leads to my second point).
-i certainly wasn't trying to say that only those traditional forms (medical, cop, lawyer) were able to be
successful. that's why i put in the 'monster of the week' bit. another example that's quite common is
'non-traditional investigator' (from the mentalist, monk & psych to murder she wrote, father dowling &
going way back - mrs. columbo). that could be considered merely a sub-genre of 'pi shows' which for
whatever reason seem less popular than they used to be (moonlighting, simon & simon, magnum pi,
rockford files, banaceck & peter gunn). moreover both are pretty much the same as cop shows imo.
it's also worth mentioning a genre i loathe: nighttime soap. while there is the dallas reboot and
maybe nashville (never watched) they've annoyingly focused on teens in the recent past - gossip girl,
90210 reboot, one tree hill, etc
-while it's certainly possible to make a successful tv drama without going back to the well of doctors
lawyers & cops (or detective or soap or monter hunter), my point is that those have the best chance of
success. making producing a new tv show is risky. just like opening a restaurant, you're more likely to
fail than succeed. there are successful and profitable exceptions to motivate investing in pilots, but
they usually don't get picked up- and if they do, they're often canceled anyway. if i had to invest my
money, i'd sooner look for a good location for a few mcdonald's franchises than try for something
innovative (hawaiin cuisine p'haps?). by the same token i'd sooner put my money in a cop show with a
decent script than a show about oil riggers on deep sea drilling platforms. i'd rather try eating at
dace's
luau shack than mcd & i'd truly much rather see a drama about deep sea drilling than another cop
show - but only if the investment is 'opm'.
hell yes you can do that with hookers and garbage men.
hooker: sleeps with a john, gets a supernatural sti and now can do (insert power here).
the title of this series? superclap. no? meh.

you can go a
few ways with this, since getting this ability she now only has select clients, she can learn about
their ways and her hooker friend gets ripped up main super hooker can dig deep and sleep her way to
the truth.
or you have hooker who accidentally gets caught up in the underworld, she keeps her mouth shut but
her eyes open until her kid gets napped by one of her johns.
how 'bout her super power is that she can read a guy's mind while he's... "with" her. yeah, awesome
idea. pitch it to fox. >.>

garbage men, they take out the trash! these guys empty the wrong dumpster and get caught in
something that smells a little off. a body or said item is found, maybe one of their own gets done.

sounds a little like end of watch. ...but with garbage men instead of cops.
actually ended up giving this a chance although it's not my kind of show at all, and somehow found it not
bad at all. definitely giving it a few more episodes and actually encourage the rest of the pessimists to do
the same ๐
after all, it has quite a decent cast, and does differ from other medical dramas in a few ways. not great,
but quite decent indeed at least.

either one sounds very fun. the hooker show would run blue enough that the "powers" could approach
misfits-level bizzare fucked-upness and be super interesting, along with showing the unique lifestyles
and
attitudes of prostitutes of varying levels of intelligence, ambition, and moral/ethical compass. you could
even have one who is a straight-up crackwhore and neglects her kids - and with good writing it could be
exceptional.
the garbageman show...please just start writing that yourself now.
