anyone else bothered by the embedded subtitles in this video? they aren't even matched up with the right
scenes because the subtitles start at the beginning of the "previously on" segment but the text shown is for
the start of the regular show. is there a link to a torrent of the 720p version of this episode that does not
have the subtitled embedded into the video of the episode like this one has?

i only have macs. when viewing in quicktime player on the mac i see subtitles over the video. and when
viewing on the appletv it also shows the subtitles. there is no extra subtitle files, they seem to be
embedded in the video and not even matched up properly with the right scene (off by like 60 or 90
seconds).

is there no way to turn these off? i don't have a mac, but every single program i use to watch videos on
my pc has an option for disabling subtitles. i have to believe that quicktime has a similar feature.

when the subtitles are from an external source, yes. but in this case it looks like the subtitle is just part of
the video and i don't have a way to disable it. this is the second time this has happened for me recently.
the other time was also a 720p release of a prior episode of soa this season.

for apple quicktime technical support, goto:
https:// discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/quicktime
there are quite a few posts made by others' regarding mkv and subtitles.

or use vlc. using vlc on a mac, you can disable subtitles...even the encoded ones.

vlc player
www.videolan.org/vlc
simple, powerful and fast
plays everything, files, discs (dvd, cd, vcd, blu-ray), webcams and streams
plays most codecs with no additional codec packs needed:
mpeg-2, h.264, divx, mpeg-4, webm, wmv player
completely free, 0 spyware, ads or user tracking
works on most platforms: windows, linux, mac os x, unix...

i tried vlc and although it would allow me to play the file without subtitles on the computer that didn't help
me with the appletv. i tried exporting via numerous different ways from vlc with no luck. (even after re-
encoding to another form.) but eventually i found a program called mkvtoolnix that let me turn this torrent
into a file i could use on the appletv without showing subtitles.

@macmanjunk -- that's great, glad you found an app (mkvtoolnix) that works for you. hope it's not too
time consuming. i'll checkout that app and add it to my list of solutions to provide to other people.
thanks.
