because its the series that started in 2005 and not before... so it is a reference to the modern
doctor who and had nothing to do with the year of the episode.

after the pilot of 1996 not being accepted, they started it again in 2005, but called it season 1.
this is not true hence the series started in 1963.
so people don't get confused....

oh ok i sort of figured that was why but if that is the case then why dont you name every other series
the same way then for example supernatural started back in 2007 so using the same logic then you
would name it supernatural 2007 7x02 hdtv xvid why is it dr who is the only one with this weird
naming convention not trying to be funny or cute just srikes me as strange or out of place dont you
think so ?

because doctor who started in 1963, had a long break from 1989 and then started again in 2005.
26 seasons from 63 to 89, and 6 new seasons since 2005. but instead of calling the 2005 season "season
27", they called it "season 1".
so doctor who has two seasons called "season 1", two seasons called "season 2" and so on.
that's why it's called doctor who 2005.

lol you crack me up with the history lesson i am 45 years old been watchng dr who since i was a little
kid my question didnt relate to the history of dr who it was more about the naming convention here on
eztv at a glance eztv dosent go back that far to 1963 - 1989 with any other episode as far as i can see
so i figured why not just call it what it is now which is 2011 seeing nothing else here is named like that i
do understand your trying to be factual with date in keeping with the dr who tradtion but all i was
stating is it probally confuses people seeing that date and thinking they are downloading a episode from
2005 do you get what i am saying 😉 hehe cheers though for the reply

because he's a timelord and all the episodes were filmed in 2005 and have been aired since...

a tradition has arisen of naming re-made or re-launched series by their year of origin (the prisoner
2009, for example). it

the world exists beyond eztz you know... what if someone decided to rip the old episodes, or they came
out on blu-ray etc? if they just called them dr.who.s01e01, and you were looking elsewhere
(tpb/isohunt etc), how would you know which era they were referring to?

also eztv doesn't define the naming convention, the release group does.

well... bsg, battlestar galactica wasn't named with a year. that one started in 2004.

funny you take bsg as an example... galactica 1980. but that's not due to the scene i quess...

what a great ep... and that question... bloody hell, haha, brilliant. did not see that.

damn now more waiting... oh well, can't complain...

ahh and to think i still recall the days of episodes of who when there were giant robots and man
eating plants, and really goofy things like that, so glad this show is still made, love it.
