not to be a dick, but codec packs usually hurt more than they help. all you
really need is an mkv splitter, such as haali's media splitter, which also
supports mp4 files and ogm.

big thanks for the 720p!

look, i am sorry if:

1) you are too stupid to figure out how to use google
2) you are too poor to afford a decent tv or computer
3) live in a country with limited internet (i am very sorry for you there, maybe
some legislative action you can take?)
4) are jealous of those of us who aren't 1-3

but

1) no one is forcing you to download these.
2) no one is forcing you to use eztv.

so stop bitching! there are many of us who aren't 1-3 and we don't bitch about
the low quality 350mb rips (which i only get if my nntp provider purges too fast
or the show is of the ugly betty variety) so stfu!

this is directed at the 3rd or 4th poster and their ilk. not anyone else who is
looking for legitimate help.

indeed it is not hard to run these files. the quality is
excellent and worth the
extra space, in my opinion. 4 eps to a single layer dvd+r, that's only 6 discs,
as somebody mentioned earlier.

in deed... so someone with about 200 seasons of tv show that makes 1200 discs,
whereas the smaller versions make about 200 discs.
6 discs is enough for 3 seasons of 24!

if you want high quality, buy the dvds!

dvd-r or dvd+r are so inexpensive you can buy a 100 spindle for $20
of ridata (a great brand). 4 720p eps per dvd is awesome!

as for playing them just get the latest version of ffdshow
it is free and works great. no need to spend money on coreavc.
get the latest generic build here

sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=173941

also you get all the other codec formats with ffdshow and other very cool
features like auto normalize audio and lots of great post processing
filters. really is the best all around decoder of video/audio

getting the haali media splitter is a good idea also.

as for a standalone that does not need any codec installed. go vlc.
vlc plays them fine also and navigates fine. you just have to make sure
you have the latest version which is 0.8.6a. heck i can play live
hdtv at 1920 x 1080 fine in vlc so playing x264 720p is cake.

btw - yes coreavc is the fastest at the moment. it plays via software
only about 15% faster than ffdshow so if you have an older box get that
and it is on torrent sites if you truly truly can't afford the price.

thanks so much for the 720p!!! these look amazing!

to those bitching above: give it a rest. why shouldn't those of us who want 720p
be able to get it? because you've got an old crappy computer and/or don't want
to/can't download a gig? shut up and download the 350 mb releases then.

long live 24 in 720p. thanks again! =d

i completely agree. 720p is the shit!

standard 350mb releases were released by eztv some weeks ago as dvd rips.

i know that abennett, but i was asking about the hdtv ones. xor ripped the
first two episodes, i was wondering if they - or some other group - ripped the
other two. isn't it true that in most cases the preair doesn't match the aired
version?
[#12862] Written by: bobbb [21/01/2007, 06:26]
the dvdrips aren't preair, they are from official retail dvds. fox released the
first 4 eps on dvd one day after they aired and since they usually ship them to
retailers around 2 weeks before the streetdate we got the rips before they aired.
and the dvdrips are superior quality to the hdtv rips because groups rush those
releases without any regard to quality. an example: the xor release of episode 2
is missing almost a minute of footage because they rushed the editing. if anyone
wants to check, compare hdtv to dvd at around 32:15 minutes.

totally agree! i even prefer hd files, it also watches much better than the
350mb sized files!

thanx! (ohhh, and i do have all the episodes of 24 in 720p :d)

personally i love these releases. the download time sucks, but if i'm going to
collect all the episodes high quality is very much worth it!!
