i have no clue what this is supposed to be about. it is just people talking, talking, talking, ...
it could do with some set up at the start.

the acting in this show is about the level you'd expect to find in a big budget porno like something
vivid would make. possibly even worse than that. acting wise, i've seen better in community college
plays. this isn't helped by the fact that most of the show is made up of somewhat cheesy
conversations between the actors who are really having a hard time believing what is coming out of
their mouths. if you are going to have a film with a ton of scripted conversation you need much
better actors and a director who isn't still in film school.

aside from everything that makes a show worth watching, the plot was okay. to each his own, but i
won't be bothering with this show again. hopefully this company will try to find better actors next
time. no matter how bad or good a plot and theme might seem, it will always be the actors who
determine it's success.

btw, i do appreciate the effort and idea behind this project. however i also have to hold a certain
level of standards for a product. yes it's free, but so is dogshit and dirt. just because it's free
does not mean anyone should accept barrel scrapings, for i want the idea of a

definitely a show worth giving a go. yes, there is a sub-par performance by a majority of the actors
but the two leads do a fairly reasonable job.. and are convincing enough for 80% of the time. having
watched a lot of low-budget shows, my favourite of course being the trailer park boys, i was
prepared to be underwhelmed by the acting and videography but i was still engaged in the plot and
story. however, it did seem to move a little slowly at times and with a bit more work on speeding up
the plot and refining the dialog so it doesn't sound so cold and rehearsed, i think this show could
go somewhere.

as for the camera work.. it's very, very bad stuff and i have just one thing to say: buy a fricken
tripod!! not all the scenes required the use of handheld and it really showed in those places. a
cheap $10 tripod, heck.. even putting the camera on the desk/table, would have sufficed for a lot of
the shots. this of course would mean doing multiple shots of the same scenes from different angles,
though not always, and a lot more editing... but it would have made a huuuuuuuge difference.

if they can guarantee me that they will buy a tripod, i'd happily donate to see this show move
forward and see where it leads.

edit: just watched x-files season 1 pilot and there were quite a number of corny/hammy scenes in
there with mulder murdering the scene with lousy exposition. whether it was written badly or was him
still getting a feel for the role is irrelevant.. that show went on to be a cult classic.

nice script and good acting, but they need more people in the show, maybe get some volunteers cause
there are never more than 4-5 people in the scene. this is obviously so in places the homeland security
office, the office where they set up later, and for such a high value suspect, no security at all to guard the
suspect and the place.

what is painful about this to watch is the deterioration of the quality of dialogue. it starts as
passing, then is rough in spots and finally turns absolutely brutal and predictable toward the end,
which is entirely sad given the fresh premise. i could have closed my eyes for the entire episode
and got 99 percent of the story from the dialogue. and that's not a good thing ... why do i need
visual storytelling in that case? i'm not talking about special effects, just the idea of a moving
image telling an intrinsic part of the story -- that's barely present.

and what is present is distracting. must absolutely **everything** be in focus all the time? in
every shot, except for the "mystery person" everything is in focus. some dof would be helpful.
also, most scenes are way too bright. it's like being hit in the head with a video camera and then
drowned in florescent lighting.

still, it's too easy to be simply critical and i admire the creators for their initiative.
hopefully the storytelling will improve and they'll add some cinematic elements, perhaps cinematography.

i'm sorry but i cannot, even in the most generous of moods, donate to this project.

here's my critique:
1) camera is not steady - seriously, you couldn't afford a basic tripod? perhaps there should be no
consumption of caffeine before shooting.
2) acting is not convincing - it's like the actors know what to say, but there's no substance to it, they
simply do what and only what the script says but nothing to give the audience a feeling of sincerity.
3) pointless dialogue - the old guy near the golf course could have given his example in less than 20
seconds and then he would have had plenty of time to say something that contributed to the storyline.
what exactly was the whole point of calling that guy anyway? to help a guy make a decision on
something because his character has issues that were never introduced or developed so the audience
has no idea what is happening anyway?
4) law of diminishing returns - this "pilot" seemed like a copy of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of the x-
files. every character that received significant screen time could be easily identified and pointed out as
another character on the x-files.
5) over the top character traits - 47 languages? if that was supposed to be a factoid then the show
blew it on that one. it's overkill and very difficult to believe based on the character, profession, and
status within her job.
6) discontinuity - ok, so the decision was made to go retrieve that "lone gunman
(singular) and bring him in to assist. he hasn't been told anything yet and won't be told until he signs
the confidentiality agreement. somehow though he already knows and prints out an old historical article
earlier in the morning before he was retrieved that identifies the "flaw" in the cover story even though
the guy hasn't been briefed on anything? not buying it.

there are some more but at this point they would just be trivial.

even on no budget, the story line could have been more solid and not so,"if you watched the x-files
then you'll love this because you'll know what happens before you see it!"
