well now u know how we feel in sweden, we have had a similar law over a year now.
enjoy =)

hopefully the law will be removed in the next election when almost every1 below 25ish will vote on the
only party against it.

what does this mean for british television, such as doctor who? will we still get torrents for those
programs?

it means it will be much more risky for someone in the uk to upload any copyright material. those
that do could lose their internet connection.

guys relax!!!

it's not the end of your weekly shot of uk shows!

at worst case it will be 2 years before the law comes into effect nationally in the uk.

if it's even still a law (new government, means new rules!) the law may be repelled or altered.
if the lib-dems get any half decent power they may have to revisit this law.

come back on 20 months, and if it's still on the book then get worried...
my bets is that something will come along to make the law useless. (like calling yourself a
"communications provider" not a isp subscriber)

yes of course you will still get them, eztv uploads scene files, which have already left the uk long
before they hit a torrent swarm...

all this law will do is (eventually, in 2 years time) stop uk users from connecting to torrents
openly from their home connection. what it means for uk television uploads is an extra anonymous
link in the chain, a link that is already there in most cases.

at the moment a lot of isps will not give out customer data unless there is a court order requiring
them to. also there is no system in place to even monitor internet usage so yes it will be a while
yet before we need to worry about this new bill.
