it would be better if the show is encoded with divx (5.2 or
later allows hd 720p and 1080p encoding), or wmv9.

quality of an equivalent xvid encode does not even come close for 1.1 gb
filesize. divx is still behind xvid, so....

no, ur not. when it comes to downloading, i prefer 175/233/350 mb. if i really
like the show and feel like i need to watch it in the highest definition
possible, i go out & buy the dvd. but for those who don't want to buy the show
when it comes out on dvd and want to have a high def copy of the show to keep
this is a great alternative.

you do realize that dvd is not the highest resolution possible and is a lower
resolution than 720p, right?

btw, in reference to another post, 1080i/p versions will not be coming soon.
why? because abc broadcasts in 720p.

in central europe, we do not even know, what hd tv is, becuase till 2008 we only
plan to do working digital tv system )) so i am for 350 mb releases as well
:o) (and for me, it is really useless to dl 1,1g file with just a tv-series).
and btw mkv file is what i do not like, too ;o)
[#7597] Written by: dipstick [09/12/2006, 10:54]
what specificly don't you like about the mkv container?

imaging looks great - for the few frames that my modded xbox shows before it
crashes. running as mkv or avi produced the same results. anyone get this to
run on their xbox? i suspect i'm missing a codec, but have no clue how to
update the thing. i would appreciate some suggestions, as the quality is amazing.

thanks.

/// edit
just found that on the xbox media center web site that due to hardware
limitations, it cannot support the resolution.

this is hot quality. i wish all releases were this good. this also makes me want
to just go get an hd tuner card... :d

trying to figure out if my monitor will support these files. or what
they "will" play properly. i have a gem 19" tft lcd model#gl-1920b. here is
info on it here. h**p://www.scanport.com/lcd_spec_gl-1920b.html - thanks.

i just dl this to check it out and holy crap is it friggin clear! i never really
experienced hdtv quality stuff before and this is the first time i've seen it
within my own home. and it was on my 19" ws monitor only too. it actually ran
smoothly and i could see so much more detail compared to the 350mb version. imo,
the 1gb size is worth the dl if it goes at a decent speed.

so are they gonna release shows in 720 now? any confirmation or any hint of a
confirmation on this? cuz i would really love to see my top shows in 720 like
heroes, lost, prison break, jericho, etc etc.

all or almost all shows are released in 3 versions (350mb, hr 700mb and 720p at
1.1g) but until now eztv choosed not to relese 720p. the interest in this files
is still low hr versions get 2-3 more times dls and the 350 mb versions 20-30
times more

as time goes by more and more people will become interested. eztv needs to make
the switch to hd quality shows now.

i personally like the 350mb files. yeah i'm sure people will like the higher
quality ones but there are also some people with download limits that like
myself are perfectly happy with the 350mb files.

i am also in an area where dsl is available but not at superfast speeds. i
always keep my share ratio above 110% but that usually means leaving my computer
on overnight.

so you all can do what you like with 720p, but please don't stop the
175/233/350mb releases!

hehe me too, where i live we still have caps on our traffic, 30gb a month aint
enough to get tv @ 1gb per show
[#7682] Written by: Shatterpulse [10/12/2006, 02:12]
...but think of the quality.....

oh yath. we need 720p.

don't worry about losing the standard releases, there is no way they are going
anywhere when there is still a very clear preference for those.

if the 720p was to become a regular thing the hr releases would be in more
danger than the regular res releases.
