the excavation of 14th century medieval soldiers alongside saracen coinage in
somerset leads to the hunt for the true cross.
brilliant archaeologist dr gillian magwilde has a passion for history and a
hunger for the truth. she’s aided by her loyal team, forensic expert dr ben
ergha, eager new intern viv davis and the erudite but disreputable professor
gregory parton.
using their archaeological skills the team discover that the medieval soldiers
were knights templar. analysis of a small piece of cedar wood from the dig
indicates that it’s 2,000 years old - and from the holy land. could it be part
of the true cross?
gillian needs to buy time to survey the site but right wing religious
extremist edward laygass, who believes that the country is at war for its
christian soul, acquires the land and declares it holy ground. laygass calls
on a cell of violent modern day crusaders to aid him in his quest, and the
team find themselves in mortal danger.
an enigmatic symbol carved on the back of a crucifix could give them the clue
they need to find the true cross…
i truly don't have the words to convey the full horror of this televisual
abortion.
i feel i must apologise personally on behalf of the bbc and my fellow britons.
i sat watching it as it aired, with awestruck fascination, not quite being
able to bring myself to believe that a show so monumentally awful had actually
made it to broadcast.
no matter how terrible it got (and it did indeed manage to become
progressively more ludicrous and infantile as time went on) i couldn't seem
to move my finger to the remote's channel change buttons.
i'm with kurai. if you're into extreme anti-christian bigotry and paranoia,
whitewashing of islam, and pseudo-history reminiscent of a second rate davinci
code (if that isn't redundant) then maybe this is your cup of tea. otherwise, ugh.
brainisfried i see you mention the da vinci code what's wrong with it? the da
vinci code tells a compelling and good story. the da vinci code is also more
believable than what the bible propogates and remeber the bible was written by
man not god. this show isn't that bad i actually kind of liked it all you
people making a hue and cry about anti-christian this anti-islam that etc need
to stop trying to force your religious views on people and if you don't like
it then turn off.
farrel23: i'm an atheist. this show just seemed like it was trying for a code
vibe for lack of a better description. i've read enough history that any
"christians are violent nutjobs, islam is the religion of peace" nonsense is
like nails running down a chalkboard for me, which this show has in abundance.
the floppy swords just added to amateur hour.
