tv shows are not really illegal to download, but not really legal neither. it's
more of a gray area.
plus, there is no difference in the downloading/uploading process if you're
downloading it for yourself or to sell to other. unless you're one of those
peopke who only download but don't upload worth mentionning!

same in the uk, i read on tv.com the law in the uk is it can be downloaded for
reviewing perposes, is that any review or popular reviews (magazines ect)

i only download episodes so i can watch the previous episode before the next
episode airs, just in case i missed anything when i watched it on tv.

i also fully intend on buying the seasons of the shows i download if and when
they come out on dvd.

that is fine.... however, is there any software that blocks a satelight signal from the cbs folks
that track your ip address?

i have a similar issue and received notice from my isp today about material i've downloaded that belongs
to nbc, most of the files came from eztv though one came from kat.ph. i'm adding peer guardian to my
computer, but i was also wondering if people using vpns would be protected as well? it's my first violation
notice so i'm hoping that buys me time to test out if it's going to happen again. i'm thinking running peer
guardian as well as connecting to another hub in another country might help? thoughts?

i don't know much or anything really about vpns but i do know that i was busted for downloading
from eztv a few days ago using peerblock! ip filtering software helps but it's certainly not iron-clad.
i feel safer downloading from a private tracker combined with ip filtering software, although really
popular so-called private trackers like demonoid aren't so safe anymore. unfortunately, i haven't
been able to obtain any invites to more desirable private trackers like ftn, cn, waffles, what.cd
etc., mainly because i am too lazy and/or insecure to deal with the irc interrogation process.

i've used peergaurdian for years and i'm certain it helped but it isn't the be-all-end-all by
any means. over the past 9 years of using it i have received a handful of copyright infringement
notices from my isp, again recently a few days ago using torrents from eztv. a couple of years
ago i switched to peerblock, which uses the same open-source code as peergaurdian. in fact, it
looks, feels, and operates exactly like peerguardian as well a having the phoenix labs' seal of
approval. the phoenix labs dudes stopped maintaining peerguardian and recommends users switch
over to the now currently updated and maintained peerblock.

massive props to the man in 2011. reviving a thread 5 years later.

i'm glad my isp does not even bother with these notices. *if* they even get them. i hear tpg does
send them out, but only because they're chicken.

as it is, peerblock et al block known ranges of addresses. doesn't stop random miaa/cbs guy logging
in from home, starting up utorrent and getting his tv show/movie etc and seeing who's in the swarm..

cbs cares.

wrecche is right.

the only way to stop getting reported is to subscribe to a vpn.

blah blah whine whine moan moan...

you really should read up on your amendments!!
the us first amendment is only regarding "governments" limiting free speech! not individuals!
in a private or public forum (unless it's government run) the admins are the law, judge, jury and
wielders of the banhammer!

jheese! i'm in scotland never been to the us and even i know that!!

on please don't be a necro!

start a new topic next time ^_~
snuggles and rainbows!

*admins* feel free to remove this post or leave it up... ^_^
