i wanna see an adaption of thief of time... that's still my favourite discworld
book that i've read. coincidentally also the first. but still... bring it!
i think its fair to say the books lost their funny appeal around book 25, now
its a production line of books, with nothing funny at all, going postal was
atrocious compared to the earlier works...cant see why theyd want to make a
shocker of a book into a 2 or 4 hour thing...there wasnt one remotely funny or
appealing thing about that book, and i am big discworld fan myself owning all of
the books...sometimes things such as the discworld spawn so many titles, it
becomes garbage after awhile, unfortunately thats what has happened here after
book 25..morbid doesnt do it justice...stick to making the earlier shows, you
wont go wrong..make the newer morbid, boring and not funny books you will loose
viewers...ya hear that sky...i hope they do, i want sky to die die die..horrible
fucking company in the uk.
yes, the books might be deteriorating in quality now that there's so bloody many
of them, but i for one can't wait to hope for soul music, or nightwatch, which
was pure brilliance.
hmm even though its been quite some time since i've read the books, im pretty
sure they cut out the spider lair part..correct me if im wrong! but didnt
cohen resq them from the giant spider in the books?
well... it wasn\'t cohen, it was hrun. it was also the lair of bel-shamharoth, a
lovecraftian grotesqerie who isn\'t a giant spider (think tentacles, not legs).
there were also quite a lot of other characters and parts of the story that were
chopped.
i enjoyed the first part a great deal and can't wait for the second part to
finish so i can curl up with my wife on the couch and laugh our tails off... i
love the discworld.
actually, hrun was losing the battle until twoflower flashed his picture box,
causing the creature to cover it's eye with it's tentacles... i missed the
part with the hydrophobes more though, i thought it was the funniest part in
the book.
also, i thought the magicians using the number eight was a bit un-discworld-
like. on the other hand, i loved the luggage and twoflower, and all in all i
can't wait to see the next book. anyone know when that might be?
i'd like them to adapt the first book into a tv show or film, i've never read
any of the books so would like to see how things all kicked off... maybe i'll
go an read it 😛
is there a hdtv version knocking around anywhere? can only find these 'no
bigger file size than 800mb' types (which i'm very grateful for 🙂
i'd've thought a full on h.d.t.v. file would be around the size of a dvd?
there was quite a bit missed from the two books...although i have to say they
made a good job of it, made for the non-discworld ppl 😉 good cast and of all
the ppl made for death, christopher lee is perfect! i always thought rincewind
would be younger, but thinking about it a wizzar' would prob be older...
good to see the main man at the start and the end too ;p mr tp himself...
everyone has their own opinion. i still find the recent books very clever and
funny. going postal was great. and then there's the wee free men books. i spent
a lot of time laughing out loud at the little men in blue.
i don't mind these tv remakes. they can't capture the subtleties of the books,
but they are worth watching.
and yeah - i really missed hrun in the first one. his adventures with the dragon
queen and her brothers were hilarious in the book.
cheers for the upload once again! these shows are rarely shown down here in oz.
