fuk me, just watched e2 and got the feeling this was "history for dummies" !!!
in case you are too stupid to get it there is thunder & lightening in the
background at crucial scenes - just like the christian portrayal of easter.
piss off.
i liked it up to that point but then i got the feeling the director was slapping
me over the head with his todger. what an opportunity missed.
dont forget that this is adapted from a book series. if the 'thunder and
lightening' is there in crucial scenes, it was probably part of the book and the
author's original intent.
maybe, just *maybe* the director is trying to stay faithful to the original
author's portrayal rather than trying to subversively put forth a personal faith
agenda.
very good acting and i liked the first two episodes. i kind of liked the portrayal of thomas jefferson as a
wimp and hypocrite. something different.
episode 3 was terrible. i was amazed that we had to sit through about an hour of coughing and bleeding
and then at the end abigail announces that cornwall had surrendered. i guess they didn't want to spend
so much on battle scenes. there was more action in the boston 'massacre' (which adams apparently didn't
really see in person anyway) than the whole rest of the war.
i hope the remaining episodes are a bit more balanced.
yeh it would've been good to see more battles and action, but adams was never
really present for these, and the budget is probs maxed out on powdered wigs and
old dresses.
great show though, historically very accurate - good on playtone and tom hanks
for financing it
as a foreigner, is this a good or otherwise representation of american history?
episode three was rather laboured, but history isn't always exciting. thanks
for the downloads.
