amy sherman-palladino, creator of gilmore girls , brings us this multi-camera
comedy about how two estranged sisters who are polar opposites try to raise a
baby together. boston legal's parker posey was cast in the lead role in this
comedy pilot as sarah tomkins. sarah is an intelligent, optimistic and
determined woman who has it all. she's a successful editor of children's books
with a...
this is the worst show i've ever seen. this is the worst direction i've ever
seen. this is just....bleck.
i don't know if they believe just because palladino did "gilmore girls," it
means the show is supposed to be successful, but they were dead wrong. the only
acting that is worth watching in the whole piece is lauren ambrose, who played
claire in "six feet under." parker posey's ocd sunshine girl against lauren's
disenfranchised younger sister mix about as well as oil and water.
is it the director's fault or parker's? i'm going to blame the executive
producer, knowing how ocd amy sherman-palladino is about her actors and
actresses following script and direction to a t. parker is consistent
throughout the first two episodes so she can clearly act, but you really lose
interest by the end of the first one and by the end of the second one you just
wish her character would jump in a spaceship and fly off to mars leaving us to
find out more about her sister who is the more interesting of the two.
the characters of the parents are about the worst creations on television today.
her father, having no idea what type of person his daughter is, drops off trash
he picks up from the side of the street and has tried to refurbish to his ocd
daughter's house. the mother is apparently scared of her own shadow. watching
the two of them is like taking large grit sandpaper and rubbing it hard against
a freshly skinned knee.
we all know that palladino left "gilmore girls" before the show finally listed
to the port bow and sunk in it's last season. "the return of jezebel james" was
the product she was supposed to be working on in the interim. instead of a
intriguing, quality product it looks like palladino ran out of time and threw
this together just to have something to be able to show the teacher she did her
homework.
if fox is going to throw a show out, this one deserves a trip to the garbage
can. i'll take "new amsterdam" any time over this boring work that is so faulty
they had to force laugh tracks onto it almost ever other minute. sorry fox, but
this show is sooo bad, you can't even coerce me into thinking it's funny.

i have to strongly disagree with that.
palladino left the show after messing it up completely. the sixth season was the
worst one, and the last one improved over the mess she did on the sixth.
she sunk her own show and then left it for others to deal with it.
the showrunner on the last season did a magnificent job fixing what she destroyed.
palladino left the show after messing it up completely.
i'll concede you that. it was just everything i could do to force myself to
watch the last season. i guess i was just dreaming that anyone could undo the
damage she did and when the last show aired i was never so happy in my life.
that's one ship that should remain at the bottom of the ocean.
man, parker posey really needs to dial it back .. like about 15 notches.
whether it's down to direction or not she's almost unwatchable - it's like
she's on a massive coke bender.
two things:
1. i used to be addicted to the gilmore girls
2. i've been watching a lot of the wire and in treatment lately.
that was the disclaimer so you can see where i'm coming from.
this show sucks so unbelievably bad it's painful. the characters are
caricatures, they speak in cliches, most of the jokes are so not funny it's
amazing how the
person writing them didn't cut them in re-write.
there's a scene in the first episode taking place in a supposedly crappy, empty
diner except for the two main characters. and there's a waiter, claiming one of
the (total of five? six?) tables of the whole place "is not in my section" like
supposedly there's another waiter that's just sitting somewhere behind the
scenes waiting for a dozen customers to come in. this "joke" is repeated at
least three times.
and there you have it. i expected interesting characters and snappy dialog. in
the end all i got was a pair of hello kitty phones.
i also think, that it wasn't that bad. at least fox is trying to build up
something new (acutally old because it's a sitcom). i can't think of any new and
good sitcom, which was successful in the last years (to some degree maybe how i
met your mother, but the ratings are declining since the show started, and will
likely not be renewed for a 4th season). i think this show will be the last
classic sitcom which will be produced by the major networks for a long time. fox
will due to the modest ratings not show all 7 produced episodes, but i hope they
will be available here on eztv.
i also did mind it (though i do agree the laugh track was overdone) whereas i
found it painful to watch shows such as big bang theory and ugly betty which
both seem to rate well - go figure!!
this show was painful! i watched to the end with hope and optimism as i thought by the end i would
see potential. sadly, it never fulfilled the glimmer of promise it had.
i would have to say don't waste your download time.
