most `open` proxies are fine for static html sort of content but have big
issues with streaming content - they generally deliberately limit the amount
of data returnable for a given client request.
although it's irritating it does make sense because bandwidth isn't free, and
streaming location locked streams to the rest of the known world would
saturate their capacity in no time.
there are 2 realistic alternatives ...
1) use a `pay for` proxy service, which gives you a login to an authenticating
proxy and a traffic allocation (i.e. x number of gb for y number of $)
2) use one of the proxy scanner tools out on the big bad intarweb, and stumble
across a private, non-authenticating open proxy.
if you do use the 2nd method be aware it opens you up to all sorts of legal
ramifications, plus your scanning activity will be adding to the general
`background noise` static of the internet, so i'll have to find out where you
live and come round to break your legs because you are filling my server logs
with scan attempts 🙂
