i'm seeding colbert report right now. the thing is when i do a manual announce
on colbert report to try and connect and seed to more people. that message
comes up that says "problem connecting to tracker. connection refused" i
thought that usually came up when the tracker was down or something.
i'm connected to 20 seeds and 6 peers on colbert report.
anyways i was only connected to 2 people for an hour on daily show and hardly
dling, so i closed and reopened and that message is always up. i haven't
connected to anyone over the past half hour.
using bittornado. haven't had something like this happen except when a
tracker goes down.
i've used utorrent and it sucks compared to bittornado. atleast in my
experience. also why would it be the problem when i use it almost everyday,
and have gotten the colbert report, but not the daily show. i'll try it really
quick, but i doubt that will help.
ok i used utorrent. saved the torrent to my computer, opened it with utorrent.
the add/new torrent screen came up. chose a place to save the file to. hit the
ok button. nothing is coming up. not connecting to anyone or anything.
there is a dht at the bottom. it said 0 nodes or something. now it's saying
waiting to login. do i need an account or something?
went to utorrent's site and it just confirms the tracker is down, which i
originally stated. the red download arrow that comes up means there is a
problem with the tracker.
however i was able to use another tracker i guess, or dht to connect to other
peers. i'm guessing you use multiple trackers or something when connecting to
torrents. so i started adding in a random eztv tracker and it works.
however the http://85.17.42.17:7001/announce
tracker isn't working according to my results, and if people are having
trouble getting the daily show and/or colbert report then they should add the
top tracker in manually.
even though i've been using bittorrent for probably 7-8 years now, i've never
had to do something like this and i clicked on a few other episodes on this
site and they work just fine, so i don't think there is a problem on my end.
other people are reporting the same problem on another sites doing this
torrent. could you help us advising how to connect to peers if the tracker is
down? what setting needs changing from the default in 1.7.7?
edit
finally, something constructive!!! thanks foobarbapapa, it worked!
if you would have said you weren't using the tracker i provided, then this
would have been resolved way earlier in the day. you made it sound like it was
wrong on my end and the tracker i provided was working fine. also no one else
seemed to be complaining except 1 person. then you directed me to the utorrent
site because you said or implied i wasn't using it correctly.
first time in 7 years or however long it's been around of using bittorrent and
having to add a different tracker, and i had to guess at doing that.
first of all, the tracker we are normally using is down and we don't know when
it will be back. we are very sorry for the invonvinience.
second on a more personel note, i have to contradict my good friend aydin,
bittornado *is* a good client. the problem with bittornado is, that it stopped
its development years ago. i used bittornado for years and only changed to
utorrent because of dht. still missing the nice, clean, simple interface of
bittornado.
i hope you are all having a good day, people and keep on sharing cause sharing
is caring:)
