i don't know if this will help anyone, i downloaded the latest free software
from divx.com opened the file using this and no problems.

this played no problem on gom player www.gomplayer.com
however i can't convert and burn to dvd!

don't know what you are all complaining about. it plays no problem.
mplayer never even twitched.

why anyone would choose to play an avi through software using 3rd party codecs
is beyond me.

anyway
ffmpeg -i filename.avi -vcodec copy -acodec copy outfile.avi
will fix any file header problems

or nic\'s 4cc changer (the one that comes with xvid bin.).. just rewrite the avi
header

red-faced, i need to admit that the second torrent that i downloaded from
isohunt (the more recent of the two) did not play with real player either. i
finally saw the repack on eztv and downloaded that....
