it does not look all that easy.... any preset one can use?
i haven't figured out the best settings for exactly 700mb, but try this:
on the video tab, set format=xvid, container=avi, mode=bitrate-based,
bitrate=2100kbps. on the audio tab, set encoder="lame mp3".
on the lame settings, pick cbr/stereo/128kbps.
or, if you want to keep the ac3 audio (see "copy audio" checkbox), try video
bitrate=1800kbps.
then just load the mkv file, and hit start.
maybe there's another tool that's more "1 click", but i like the flexibility of
mediacoder.
well yeah you could do that but mean while the 540p hr's look better when
encoded from the actual 720p mpeg-2 source. sure 720p 1.07gb x264 look good but
the source is much better.
if you do use that program i would suggest keeping the 5.1 dd ac-3 audio as
thats half the reason for hr. also check if it has an easy bitrate calculator.
or my preference would just be virtualdubmod and a avisynth that says
hi to all,
my first time writing here..
can anyone tell me, so i can know once and for all, what is the diffrence from
the hr 700mb file and the 720p mkv file - what is better, what is the
diffrence etc...
thanks a lot for the one who will ansewer that..
thx to the maker of this release. i have a an old xbox and i prefer ac3 sound,
but it cannot play x264 files. so, i am very pleased to see a hr ac3 version...

1. sure, but the premise of the discussion is that you don't have access to the
mpeg source.
2. if you are trying to squeeze it down to 700mb, you have to compromise somewhere.
if you don't care about that, you're right, you can use a video bitrate of
2500kbps and keep the ac-3 audio, and it will still play in xbmc on an xbox.
