dsr over hd? are you kidding? and zolin: i'm sure you think you're some kind of
badass just because you speak hungarian, but why don't you use english like the
rest of us? i think that might even be in the site rules. if speaking different
languages makes one cool, i bet i'm a lot cooler than you are:)
hmm, as much as i like stargate and want it to continue, even i have to admit that
there's not really much they can do with atlantis at this point. when the show
started i was intrigued and in love with it but it just seems like this whole
season has been filler. there is a story arc here but it's so loose and eps
pertaining to it are so sparse that i'm wondering if the writers have any plans to
wrap things up by the final ep.
the high points of the franchise have to be the introduction of the wraith, the
railgun battle at atlantis, rodney gaining super-powers, the intergalactic gate
network eps with rda, the apollo and horizon warhead intro and nuking shots (that
pan around the horizon after launch was some impressive cg) which led to atlantis
getting lasered and of course, the epic space battle at the asuran (pegasus
replicator) homeworld. that's like what? 5-10 good eps outta 4 seasons?
i know there are lots more good ones but the above scenes are truly epic and imo
are the only ones worth rating.
another thing. it's such a shame that the writers have turned carter
into the new weir. amanda tapping is an amazing and strong female actress and she's
essentially been relegated to a recurring role. sure, shep is the lead and his team
are second but c'mon. give carter more screen time. the banter between her and
mckay would definitely make for interesting viewing.
at the mo i don't really see how atlantis could get better. they've done the whole
wraith thing to death and the intro of replicators (rip-off of sg1 storylines) just
seems to have a whole "been there, done that" thing about it. i want the show to
continue but if the writers can't come up with better eps than the old "primitive
villagers, advanced tau'ri" eps (which were always so boring btw) a la the old
seasons of sg1, then they need to ask themselves if atlantis is worth keeping on
the air.
imo the solution is more background on the ancients, more use of tech, definitely
more comedy (like the good ol' days on sg1 with rick. anyone remember urgo? ๐
less primitive villager bs and the intro of a newer, even badder enemy that hasn't
been in sg1.

don't talk yourself out of atlantis man. the above list should definatelly
feature the 2-parter the storm and the eye, which are my favorite alternative to
the die hard movies.
stargate atlantis is great. season 1 had it's drawbacks but after 'runner', the
show really gained momentum. ronon dax is a great story-arc, even when it's
small. ask yourself why it's small, and you understand the horror that is the
wraith.
where does atlantis go from here? while sg-1 is finished, a third show is in the
process of being made. it will feature the ninth chevron and no-one really knows
what else. atlantis is great on it's own. there are no threats to earth and so a
weekly sgc episode doesn't make sense. the real threat is in the pegasus galaxy.
now with the asurans gone and an "darth weir" kind of looking type, the show
will get better once again.
i agree on amanda tapping. as much as i like to see her on the show
ooh, you're right about the storm and the eye. they were pretty good eps. kolya was
a sweet villain.
ronon was definitely a much better replacement to aiden ford. ford started out good
but completely went downhill (got less and less mature...guess it's cos the actor
was so young?). the part that killed it was the whole wraith enzyme thing. "i'm not
crazy, you'll see. i'll show you all" got a bit annoying after a while.
they definitely need to bring the genii into more eps. maybe upgrade genii tech a
bit so they're on average footing with the real-world earth military (so the genii
could finally pose a real threat to atlantis).
as for that ninth chevron. i've been wondering about it for years. can't wait for
the new series (and stargate: continuum)
i mainly watch stargate for the laughs, the tech, technobabble and the cg. as of
late, atlantis has more than delivered in terms of tech and cg but it's kinda
lacking in the laughs department. old eps of sg-1 used to crack me up for the full
45 (window of opportunity anyone? :d). laughs are sparse on sga. they definitely
need rick or at least dom deluise in a few eps.
i'm hoping the rest of this season delivers. i've grown up watching stargate and
learnt a lot of things from it. i'd hate to see 11 years of fun end now.
i agree to most parts of above posts. i do think there are many more good
episodes, but as always that is a matter of personal opinion, so i will
spare you my list of favorites.
the thing with amanda tapping is indeed puzzling. the "kick out" weir
to replace her with amanda but then they hardly use her. weir seems to
be making a comback with her own group of replicants? but when will we
see them or will we ever see them. the problem with great episodes featuring
great space battles and lots of cgi's is that these costs so much money
that you just know that the next few episodes will be much less. just take
a look at the last few episode after the great space battle at the asuran
homeworld.
yes a new bady would be great but try to come up with a original one yourselves
its not that easy without making them look very stupid or to powerful. maybe a
startrek cross-over with the borg? lol what we realy need is good storylines.
not some pregnant woman, in reallife i presume too?, walking around being all
"show me some feeling sh*t". i don't suppose we will find out what happened to
her people anytime soon. does anyone realy care about it anyway?
i too hope they will get a grip on good episodes soon because i too enjoyed this
series too much to see it going down hill in this way.

have to disagree. sg-1 had a lot of pile of crap episodes just like atlantis.
also one other thing is at it is still a lot expensive to show cgi episodes
than just film plain acting. just currently all scifi movies and series tend
to think that you must have some cgi to get the to the scifi part (just look
about the terminal tv series that hopefully gets chanceled as it is really
bad, i would say that even worse than flash gordon, at least flash did have
somekind of story that makes sence). but on the other hand i definately would
not want something as cheaply done as firefly.
what comes to tapping, true she has not been given a lot of acting time but i
have to disagree greatly about her acting skills. she is okey not great but
not bad either. if you have watched even one episode of sanctuary i would not
call that kind of acting great. she is an supporting actress just like in sg-1.
for me i have to say that the best tv series ever made must be house m.d, they
have strong acters and they bring every season new twists.

this season has no big storyline it's going nowhere.
totally agree on this one , so far the show is going nowhere and the writers are
far from being capable
.... oh wait the writers.... i think that's the problem !!
look at babylon5 and it's glorious story arc over 4 and a half seasons. this is
what you get when you have only one writer and a good one. and you don't even
need the big money to make really cool episodes, when you have good actors who
do the take-over! and stargate atlantis has a variety of good ones especially
with this new female doctor and those several ship-colonels...but get rid of
carter, she does not fit in it.( yes, i do love her too, but that was long ago.)
thanx for dl mate, i do agree, most of the episodes this season are boring and
most definitely filers. cmon you atlantis guys, what's the matter, stories like
today's are an insault to our inteligence and to the show itself; anyone of us
in here could have written them.
