before i get to talking on this show compared to other stuff etc, was this a one
season show or will there be a 2nd season with a new group of kids following a
different location making it work for 40 days thing?
i think this is the 1st "reality" show i've actually found interesting because
it at least has a positive basis in that it reinforces responsibilities of life
like doing things that have to be done like cooking, cleaning (especially the
bathroom), etc that if not done leads to extremely poor living conditions.
unlike other reality shows that are poor excuses for contests that tend to
contain elements that are not; whats the word i'm looking for, ethical?; in
other words the stuff kids shouldn't watch and even adults possibly depending on
your religious background. and aside from that lack of being interesting. like
how many episodes of people dancing can one watch before it gets lame? if the
premise itself hadn't already given one that opinion. and personally i've either
been disgusted by or thought to be lame all reality shows. more disgusted by
though. educational programming on the other hand has been a nice thing for tv
now adays since quality fictional programming is far and inbetween and gets
canceled when there is a one because of all the viewers feeding the reality cow.
what has the world come to in the last 15 years or so? we've gone from shows
like the cosby show (80s) holding the number one slot and other quality shows
the other 9 slots to reality shows holding the top 10, and anything less gets
canceled prematurely.
i guess i'm left with educational programming and hope that any other show i
like doesn't get canceled but seeing as 5 have been already in the last year or
so and maybe more due to the strike i'm not hopeful for the future of tv
containing any quality programming other than educational shows. pretty sad that
out of over 300 shows (according to tv.com) that have come out since 2000, only
about 20 of them i've found to be quality programming and even fewer are sci-fi
shows which tend to be my favorites. note that i don't watch a show if i find
the premise of the show to be lame. anyways here is to continued current and
future quality programming.
i forgot about the biggest loser. although the premise isn't as interesting to
me it does, in light of a society of obesity and overweightness, provide
inspiration to lose weight. where did you get the information in the 2nd
paragraph of your post. i was not aware that they kids were not left completely
to themselves as the premise of the show was that they did things all on their
own with no adult interference. obviously there was the camera crews present and
i'm sure there were medical staff on hand out there in the event someone got
hurt. after all its naive to think that 40 days out there and the kids aren't
going to need some sort of medical care after all they are kids and someone is
bound to trip and fall or something like that and injure themselves.
but as far as the kids were fed by adults rather than cooking their own food,
i'd really want to have proof of that. as i said that would be an area that
violates the shows premise. i saw the final episode but didn't pay close
attention to the crowd that was seated during it. however i don't see any reason
why there wouldn't have been as many as there as was supposed to be there. there
was 2 or 3 that chose to go home though if i recall correctly so there may have
been only 35 of the 40 kids left by the final episode. its also possible that
others had left that weren't actually a part of the stuff we seen on tv. i don't
think we actually got to see every kid doing something except when they had the
showdowns. they stuck filming mostly a core group of kids that i assume had the
most impact on for what they were there to do. i'm sure there were other kids
besides that one bratty girl that was too stuck up to do anything that they kept
her from access to the arcade. she was probably just the worst behaved as far as
chores were concerned thus why she got to be on camera showing that behavior.
