ok, what ever, i'll just leave the loonie head to keep talking to himself
now, wasting precious kilobytes of server bandwidth.

an admin, your encouraging this pointless, squabbling thread???.wow, so i guess
tvfan is pretty much the right guy for promotion, if thats how you guys work.
[#65970] Written by: rodgerse [02/11/2007, 15:42]
well, sorry about the pms, gees.and i live in canada, but tv airs same as us
anyways here.

and you do know that maybe less than 1% of azerbaijan (?) probably knows
english, same with kuwait.i'm just saying encouraging a few big english tv from
us is not the same as promoting internet tv as a whole, believe it or not, some
people do speak other languages, and watch other stuff, but whatever.
and i guess i was right about tvfan, his kind of behaviour is exactly what
earns you respect and promotion here, with the personal attacks and swearing
and all.

seriously, about rapidshare, i mean you really hammered me for talking about
this sites "legal" distribution of content, so why do you not encourage another
medium of distributing content?hypocritical,eh?.
[#65974] Written by: rodgerse [02/11/2007, 15:54]
sorry about the f****ing pms, sorry for not posting irrelevant comments for the
world to see.is anyone gonna explain this rapidshare thing?, seriously.

nice picture tvfan, i see why people would think so highly of you, with such
childish antics.can you atleast explain the rp thing, make youself helpful for
once.

i think you are barking to the wrong tree, i speak 5 languages
fluently another
one enough to be understood and 2 dialects.

????.gees, how much brains does this site really have.and the rules confirmed
my suspicions, they only want people to come here so they can praise them
instead for offering the content.not extacly good reason to ban others for
promoting other sites.

is there any chance theres actually a good reason why rapidshare is
an "unreasonable site".i guess unreasonable is anything else,in their minds.
[#66001] Written by: NovaKing (Administrator) [02/11/2007, 19:16]
reasons why we do not allow rapid share:

1) this is a bittorrent community, not a http download source.
2) many fake rapid share links were being spammed in the forums.
3) rapidshare does not continue the spread of tv life the same as bittorrent does.
4) of course we want people to continue to come to our site, we would have to be
bloody idiots not to have that mentality.
5) we run the site, we have the rules.

now, what pretty "argument" would you like to continue with?
[#66003] Written by: kurai [02/11/2007, 19:33]
#5 seems like it should be good enough on it's own.

if rodgarse needs it any clearer, try this :-

"because we want it that way. now fuck off"

that being said - i'm curious as to why everyone is dancing around the main
reason, and seem unwilling to say it directly :-

due to the many and various peculiarities and pedantries of litigation and
legal precedent, direct hyper-text links to copyrighted media are much more
easily subject to local juristriction cease and desist, and site shutdown
orders.
bit-torrent indexing sites much less so, although we all know that in reality
there is little effective difference.

so there's your real reason in a nutshell - no direct links because we don't
want to make it easy for the lawyers to get the site shut down.

and some people actually have the nerve to flame others just for expressing
their gratitude for all they do by posting a simple thank you.

that kind of shit just blows my mind.

*bing*bing*bing*

i'd guess you like to browse through useless posts. to sum up your commen
behaviour you must be chief admin why u're not orange
[#66087] Written by: rodgerse [03/11/2007, 09:54]
well thank god someone brought this thread back to its original post, things
really got off topic.

i was just pointing out how these torrents are on public trackers, so
technically poeple don't have to come here to get the torrents, alot do just
for the community aspect, but not mandatory.

there probably not going to change anything, but if it was a semi-private site
that you could only download from here and required minimum ratios, dl speed
and registered users would grow alot.

torrentleech, example, also only has scene releases and prvt tracker, and
probably the same tv torrents on here upld there are much faster with its minm
ratio.withough the invite system and generalized torrents, this site could
mirror that.

[#66108] Written by: rodgerse [03/11/2007, 12:31]
yeah, like i said, its just my opinion, and i know the site isn't gonna change
because of it, just really wondering what others think.
[#66142] Written by: NovaKing (Administrator) [03/11/2007, 17:19]
the public trackers we use are only usable by us (try and submit your own
torrent to one of the trackers and it will fail). we will never implement a
ratio system, nor make people require to sign up to get our torrents. the reason
why this website exists is so people have a reliable website to download the tv
shows we help distribute, go to mininova and search for eztv and i'm sure you
will find at least 1 fake in every 2 torrents we release (i'm sure this figure
is even higher)

thanks for your suggestions, but any of the things you stated will never be
implemented here.

find out how many registered users torrentleech has, then compare that to the
hundreds of thousands we have on a single torrent. (if it compares to bitmetv
and such it\'s about a 10th of what we have on a single popular torrent)

the only reason the private scene release sites are less popular is because
there invite only.but certainly, with the dl speeds, they would otherwise be
much more popular cause i think people would be willing to seed if it meant much
faster dl speeds.

it wouldn't really exclude anyone if they just had to maintain a ratio, it would
benefit everyone.

really?.well, i guess having a whole open and public philosophy would make it
seem flawed, but i think it is perfectly logical.
