it definitely is a quantum leap rip off, but then again i loved quantum leap and
i really have to say i love journeyman, too. best new show in years. it's just a
shame that it's unlikely to even get a full first season.
it's only a ripoff if it attempts to do the same thing.. which journeyman
doesn't. i realize i'm being pretty picky but i like both shows on their own
merits heh.
if you remember in ql, when he leaped.. he lept into another person's body. so
there's a big distinction right there. he wasn't living as himself, he was
living through other people in each leap.
i understand why people would compare but i don't think it's a ripoff.
it's true in ql sam knew what started his time travels (his experiment) but it
went wonko after that. he had no control over when and to who he would jump, and
for what purpose. there was also a "higher" purpose to his travels, some
unexplained guiding force.
so yeah.. rip off. good thing moon bloodgood is a lot sexier then dean stockwell
as side kick-helper. still like this show though.

spevman, unlike seemingly every other show xor releases, this is perfect, not
even a bad frame in sight. audio's perfect, commercial cuts are smooth,
absolutely no complaints. i really get the feeling xor is like a group of
high-school students randomly assigned to a science project: one nerd is slaving
away trying to get the work done properly because that's how he does things, and
the rest of the group is smoking pot, playing video games, screwing their
girlfriends, and generally not giving a crap about what's going on.
honestly, while there's a clear quantum leap vibe to the show, the tone,
setting, characters, and the way it plays out are very, very diffferent. one of
the most significant deviations is that dan travels from the present to the past
and then back again and is trying to figure out the mystery. compare that to the
driving force in quantum leap (in the opening of every show, after the first
few), that he's
trying to get home, and while the overarching reason is unknown, the first
episode explains what happened to set the whole thing off. and in any case,
quantum leap hasn't been on in a decade and a half...journeyman is great
regardless, and if it does remind me of ql from time to time, that's not a bad
thing. not at all.
you guys are right, calling it a rip-off is rather harsh. although the whole
'put right what once went wrong'-thing is pure quantum leap, there's still a lot
of elements in the show that make it stand out on it's own.
i really hope that for once they'll keep a quality show on the air even if it's
not a hit from the start, it's just way too good to get cancelled...
