wtf??? how on earth is that a correlation??
axxo uploads movies to mininova you noob! and heroes is a tv show!
are you seriously that stupid?
obviously, you've never read the comments of an axxo torrent on mininova. i was
referring to all the useless "thnx" posts. so, it is a good analogy. "are you
seriously that pwn'd?"
btw, i've been saying these "thnx" posts are useless for a long time now, and in
a much nicer way, and all i've ever gotten was chastised. i've said that it's
granted that eztv knows you're thankful. i've even suggested that there be an
official "thnx" thread where users can simply offer thanks to eztv and the
release groups. it's only since the eztv community has gotten bigger that it's
become sort of a "problem."

and how is it better that only a few people know about axxo
and/or eztv? the more people that know about them means more seeds. get a grasp
on the reality of bt before spreading your dumbed down opinions to the rest of
the world dumbass
it's better, because it worked better in the past! a year before that
torrentfreak article which "interviewed" eztv was submitted to digg, the
seeds:downloads ratios were higher. i mean, aydin1954, himself, in this very
thread, just noted the poor ratios.
digg is a perfect example of the "rule of 1%," and the digg community brings
that principle with it wherever it goes. in the torrent world, that principle
can be converted to the "rule of 10%." the rule of one percent is a rule of
thumb that suggests if you get a group of 100 people online, then one will
create content (in the case of torrents, eztv is the content "creator" (really,
they're the distributor, but you get the picture), 10 will "interact" with it
(seed it), and the other 89 will just view it (leech it).
so, generally the more people that know about eztv actually means less seeds
overall. although, it all depends on the kind of people that know about eztv.
the rule of 1% was made for the web 2.0 community. however, part of that same
web 2.0 community (digg) now knows about eztv, and, like the rule suggests, they
are a selfish community.
it doesn't matter whether you have one hundred seeds or one thousand seeds, as
long as the seeds: peers ratio is "high," and as long as you have enough seeds
and peers to sustain "fast" download speeds for each peer. hell, ten seeds and
five peers with an average upload speed of 500 kbps per seed and per peer can
allow each peer to download at 1500 kbps!

the reason people whine about the thank yous is to point the the very irony of
thanking people by wasting their server space. remember how the forums would go
down under high server load? they obviously consume important server resources.
sometimes people need to be humiliated before they will change their behavior,
hence the flaming. if the admins said they didn't care about it, i would shutup.
