you have too weak computers to watch the 720p releases? that's why you miss the
hr? i can play them and i am happy as a fish in the ocean you should get the
coreavc codec (or just ffdshow i think will do) and see if that helps, if you
can't play them "out of the box". or get a new computer.

can someone please make a proper xvid version? this mkv thingy is a piece of crap.

i have the same problem... mkv sucks on my laptop
try converting it to divx... it will take a while but it's worth it

why do people complain about mkv? it's just a container like avi is. you don't
need to convert it to xvid, just get a codec to play x264 - which is a superior
format i think anyway.

yes, use a proper codec like coreavc or ffdshow or something else.

*sigh* i miss the hr releases...
me too
the first episode hr is in mininova provided by yestv
actually i noticed that only a few series are uploaded in hr compared to last
year, is that a decision made by most uploaders ?
an answer would be nice

yep, all we need is fddshow for x264 playback, but i still only see minor
improvement from the 700mb hr's. every time someone brings this up, someone
writes: "your computer is too weak for .mkv? get a new one."
err...i dont think so pal... i have a dual core 64bit machine, it's just that
the 700mb hr's run well on slower systems too (like my laptop) and they look
great, imho. also, most people don't upgrade their pc just for a 720p codec.
the x264 codec is great on a powerful machine only.
incidentally, i haven't watched any of the new season yet *lol*. did they screw
it up yet? can't be easy to continue that storyline. i remember thinking that in
the middle of season 1 and again when hiro goes bacl in time season finale.

perhaps it depends on your monitor - if you have 1024 x 768 then of course a
720p won't look much different to an hr - but i personally have mine at 1280 x
1024, 19", and the 720p are definitely a lot better than the hr.

that's not the problem as i havent run 1024x768 for years....i have a widescreen
monitor at 1680x1050. i recognize that the software 720p decoding is a little
better the hr xvid, but only on a powerful machine.

so why are they not doing the hrhd 700mb encodes now? is there anywhere to get
them? or an easy way to reencode them to it. i know autogk won't though since it
doesn't accept mkv files as an imput file format. is there a program similar
that can do this fairly easily? thanks for any helpful responses.

yeah, i also miss the hd 700mb releases.
i tried the one on mininova from the first ep provided by yestv, but it wasn't
good. was like watching stopmotion:-? if you can get it.
it would be very nice, if someone could provide the 'good old' hr releases.
