summers' cranky deaf punk little sister has been replaced by a cranky pretty
girl who's a much more plausible blood relation. otherwise it looks about the
same except for being hd.
sure, it is a much more plausible blood relation, but at least with a deaf
sister, you felt more compassion for jamie's situation and better understood
her internal conflict & 'sense of loyalty.' the new 'pretty' girl makes the
show more fantasy than reality, which to me cheapens the experience. and - she
(the new girl) just comes off as a spoiled brat (rather than a young, troubled
teen who's had to face the challenges of one parent dying, the other running
off, feeling abandoned and being deaf on top of it all). perhaps nbc thought
that was too much. can you imagine if the writers would have explored one deaf
sister vs. one with bionic hearing? a storyline could have had jamie fighting
the internal conflict of healing her sister's hearing vs. also dragging her
younger sister into the situation she's already in (working for the 'agency').
yes. check the sequence of her running away from the basecamp. with the little
girl seeing her from the car. the sequence where her legs start to \"kick in\" now
has an animated part, showing the \"electronics\" working in her legs to enhance
their abilities.
also, the pre-air one took place in europe (forgot which country). this one
takes place in the states. and of course the little sister is another actress
(and no longer deaf, but i agree making her deaf would\\\'ve added a different
slant on jaime\'s character traits). they also changed the \"babysitter\" for the
sister when jaime went out on that fatal date. in the preair it was the lady in
the building. in this one a few of the sister\'s friends just showed up.
all in all, they did a really nice job. i would\'ve picked someone other than
starbuck for the first bionic woman, though. too much of a reach. now, jeri
ryan! *that* would\'ve been a *great* choice! ; )
