i'm curious to see what this is like, it's meant to be crap. the original series
on channel 4 here in the uk (bbc america shows it apparently) is pretty good.
this us version has been 'fox-inated' to add 'drama' or whatever.
on a related topic, what happened to hells kitchen with marco pierre white on
this site? marco is great tv and was ramsey's mentor... the only man to ever
make gordon cry!
fans of the us hell kitchen will probably like it, look it up on torrents, the
series just finished at the weekend, it was great stuff. macro is quieter and
better than ramsey. he's also a culinary genius and frickin scary.
thanks, but to hell with fox for taking all that is good out of this series.
wonder how long they had to scout to find places as ridiculous as this one.
where's the passion? the real passion that was in the original series. fix the
people and don't just throw money at them. where's the real skill? the only
thing this series has going for it is ramsay yet fox still found a way to take
the good out of even that with crap editing. meh -_-
for at least this episode, it could also be called "extreme kitchen makeover".
it also differs from the uk show, at least as it was shown in canada, in that
there is no follow up a couple of weeks later. they might just be holding that
back for an extended clip show later in the series though.
there was also very little, or any, interaction between ramsay and the kitchen
staff. it was all owner and front of the house.
yeah, it was pale in comparison to the uk series ... there was too much drama (a
lil' repetitive and crazy, that guy had issues !!) and not enough cooking and
ramsay berating chefs in the kitchen.
it's like he solved all their problems in the final 5-7 minutes of the show, the
solution was simple too : "act like normal people, you'll be fine" ... geesh.
in retrospect i am pretty sure there were a lot of things being staged to make it
more *exciting* for the us audience, it's just not plausible.
it's too bad they have to bleep all the swear words. that is so annoying. when
will they get with the program in the usa and stop wall to wall censoring. kidz
hear things 10 times worse on a daily basis anyway. plus on cable they can swear
all they want, it's only the networks doing it. ramsay without swear words
clearly audible is like cereals without milk.
i'll keep on watching the series despite the bugs, ramsay's in it ... but the uk
series was of higher quality.
the british version is really good. it feels like a documentary, the editing
isn't all over the place, it doesn't have the awful overly dramatic score, it
isn't censored and ramsay acts in a genuine way. hell's kitchen is just about
the complete opposite, so i knew fox would completely ruin this. i hope channel
4 continues the original series.
wow, everyone's in agreement for once. not much more need be said except i pray
that it feels like a different show next week, that this one was atypical, but
i highly doubt it will.
i'm truly puzzled that this is getting so many good reviews. surely these
critics have bbc america and so have seen the original series, which actually
felt like a documentary instead of a fox reality show.

i had wondered why they hadn't mentioned at all that the series was a hit on the
uk, not in promos or even on the show when they were explaining the concept.
i now know why. they don't want people comparing the two shows, because the uk
version is clearly superior.

that's exactly how i felt after watching the first episode of kitchen nightmares.
cmon guys, it wasn't that bad. the uk version imo is not better, it's
different. i liked it. i suppose they shud've shown the "after" bit, but it was
fine i guess. i'd really like to see how it did ratingwise.

hell's kitchen uk s3 (the marco pierre white season) can be found on thebox.bz
and demonoid too (i think).
for the record, according to mpw, "i didn't make him cry. ramsay chose to cry."
lol. he's a hard-ass but totally different to ramsay. also, the uk hell's has
always been done with b or c grade celebs rather than restaurant owner
wannabees. i prefer the us approach.
last point ... the first season of uk's kitchen nighmares didn't have any
revisits. they came in later episodes.
