the kill point is a television series that debuted sunday, july 22, 2007 at 9 pm
et / pt on spike.

the series follows a group of u.s. marines recently returned from serving in
iraq as they come together to pull off a major bank heist.

i found this review while looking for what this show was. sounds good.

in a lot of ways, "the kill point" is a very similar to abc's "the nine," if
that show had unrolled in a linear fashion. both shows take a look at a bank
robbery gone bad, and the ensuing hostage standoff that changes the lives of
all the participants.

in the case of "the kill point," the bank robbery takes place at a bank in
downtown pittsburgh. the bank is hit by a well-oiled team of masked men, who
know there is money being counted in the vault, and know just which bank
person has the key to give them access. everything run smoothly and they
nearly make it to their getaway suv before a series of unfortunate mishaps
leads to their discovery. after spectacular running gunbattle in the streets,
they run back into the bank and to the prospect of a prolonged hostage
situation.

the bank robbers are lead by john leguizamo, a former marine who has persuaded
members of his old squad to assist in the bank robbery. as the events unfold,
more is learned about his background and the reasons why his former military
compatriots are so willing to lay down their lives for him.

the chief police negotiator is played by donnie wahlberg, who, like john
wayne, always seems to play the same character in nearly every role. this
time, his gruff, no-nonsense attitude is supplemented by a couple of
personality quirks, including a near obsessive interest in grammar. the
standoff rapidly becomes the story of these two characters, and how they
battle mentally to outsmart and outwit the other.

i've seen the first two hours, and it's not an exaggeration to say that i
barely breathed the entire time. "the kill point" is a tense action story that
hardly gives the viewers a break. there is a flurry of surprise plot twists
and turns, and while it does all keep the viewers off guard, the twists seem
logically and true to the storyline without being manipulative.

when the disc ended, i swore to myself a bit and whined about the fact that
they didn't send along all eight episodes. if they had, i would have watched
them all right then, which i think is one of the highest complements you can
pay to a show.

"the kill point" isn't just the best show that's ever been on spike tv. it's
the best new drama of the summer, and when it's over, i'm sure viewers will be
hoping that somehow these two characters square off against each other again.

all you hear is a guy from a movie that wasnt exactly that big in the first
place? it takes a bit more than dreamcatcher to tie donnie into a type cast....

also how exactly does police vs feds make you cringe? it hasnt been done to
death why? .... simple because in the real world their is a constant bickering
and turf wars.

i'm from pittsburgh area, actually got to take some photos when they were
filming in market square. i can't wait to watch this (cuz i'm a local where
it was filmed. hope it's worth the slow download.

great show, but it might get old pretty quickly. i mean how long can they be
holed up in a bank and still have it coming off fresh?

this is awesome

they're not gonna be held up in the bank from what i understand the story
evolves to after they escape...

hell technically the same could be said for "how long can a bunch of guys be
breaking out of prison"... prison break

all i know is he show was wicked and i cant wait for next week, that
negotiators a psycho with the spelling tho lol,

yeah, i'm thinking we should put him in charge of the comments section. ;-)
this was a really good show though, i can't wait for next week.

not bad, very good acting from john leguizamo. much better then "the nine".
