i dropped this after three episodes, it really is poor. i'm watching a bunch of
old 'mythbusters' and 'the collector' instead.

whether the show is being perceived good or not depends on the reference you'll
put it up against ... to me, it's indeed an upper-medium-quality show ...
pkj has all the elements that need to be there to call it "trashy" ... imo,
especially the camerawork (looks like a lot of bad-coloured handycam work to me)
leaves much to be desired. on the other hand, the "trashiness" might very well
just give the show some sort of fanbase.
the acting itself surely isn't as good as other shows with the lack of acting
skills (or director's skills) spreading over the whole cast (with kristanna
loken and rob stewart being the show's better actors imo) ... but in fact, i
prefer vasco's monologues (which are quite cool sometimes) over loken's acting
any time.
bottomline ... once the major players like "prison break", "heroes" or "lost"
are back in the game, pkj will either return to its niche with a second season
(being peacefully watched by a few die-hard fans) or be cancelled by the network.
to become a broad success, the show needs better directing, better scripting,
better camerawork (afaik, the executive producer should be responsible for these
factors) and better overall acting (which might come along with a better
director) ... especially the computer geek guy is hard to stand imo.
