ok, thanks.

to me it all sounds the same right now. but i'm sure at some point after
watching this show for a couple of episodes i'll see the differences with the
british accent i'm used to.

edit---

wow, i just saw the first episode and i understood every single word!
so it must be the british accent or just ricky gervais that i don't understand.

anybody else having problems with the sound balance?
the music is much too loud compared to the dialogue. had the same problem with a
desperate housewives hr 5.1 ac3 a couple of weeks back but never before.

if i needed any proof that americans are idiots, this is the thread for it.

i honestly thought you guys were joking at first that you needed sub-titles to
understand welsh english. geez, get some perspective and live outside your
borders a little.

i watch uk/welsh/scottish/australian/new zealand shows and have no problem
understanding any of them. it would take a really limited vocabulary to have a
difficult time.

now, would anyone here like a jelly baby?

hey genious!!
have you actually read all the comments, starting with the first one???
we are not americans!!!

our first language is not english, so yes, we do have a limited vocabulary.
most of us only started learning english in high school, so just think about
how much spanish, or french (or whatever you took in high school) you know and
think if you would be able to actually understand every single word any
spanish speaker would say (mexican, argentinian, spaniard...).

hell, i don't even understand some southern people in my own country (spain).
so are you telling me you would, with a limited knowledge of a foreign
language?

we're used to watching us tv shows, in american english, so accents like
british, welsh, scottish, australian or whatever are sometimes hard to fully
understand.

just read the comments before assuming things.

mcpish:

i'm american, and i'm pretty sure that there are probably only a couple of
native english speaking people in this whole country who would have enough
trouble with the welsh accent to need subtitles. i mean, there are a huge number
(admittedly dying) accents just in the us. (the us accent most are familiar with
is the neutral california-style accent which has become sort of the de-facto
tv/movies accent, and is slowly wiping out the regional accents.)
