does anyone know if there's going to be a 350-400 mb version?
i thought the first ep was a double or something but turns out it was only 52-
54 minutes and 700mb....

not sure tinman, might be able to try another site or whatnot, i've not seen a
smaller version anywhere myself though. to be honest though, while i prefer the
smaller size as well, i'm happy snagging this one too.. the quality is nice, so
always a good tradeoff. 🙂

according to scene rules once the length of a show goes over a certain length,
it's to be done at 700mb instead of 350mb. when it's only a few minutes over it
seems odd but it ensures the quality meets their minimum standards. if you want
a smaller release you'll have to find a non-scene release somewhere but there
were none that i've seen for episode 1 (except some ❤️00mb recodes for portable
players) so i doubt there will be for episode 2 either.

who makes these scene rules up?
i mean who cares if it's 400mb for 50 min instead of 350 mb for 42 min, as
long as the frame rate, sound etc are still the same as the 350 mb quality?

i'll grab this file anyway because i can't find a smaller release on any site.

it's a 53 minute episode, so at the same quality as the usual 42 minute shows
it's gonna be bigger than 350mb always. why it's then turned into a 700mb
version simply because it's a little longer than 42 minutes is a mystery... on
the newsgroups there's a more logically sized 520mb version available.

well, eventhough i'm not part of any group or scene, i know to appreciate their
standards... it ensures quality and never steered me wrong... so why bitch
about it? it's thanks to them we get regular releases in the first place... not
trying to knock you, i just don't get your problem unless you're still on dial-
up... :d

ps: love this show!! both characters have some qualities i try to merge in my
own. intersting, surreal and sometimes even funny in a cruel kind of way.
certainly my favourite new show over the last few months.

it at 700mb when it goes over 50+ minutes. they can if they want or not.
most uk groups decide to do so at about 52min (this file is 52:40) while usa
groups usually don't until about the 60min mark
52:40 doesn't look bad at 350mb but i guess the uk groups always want the best
quality rips.

some thoughts about the issue with filesizes and all... it's nice to haves some
rules laid down, and it's good to know, that if something comes out, it's either
175 or 233 or 350, and so on megabytes... but i think that these rules should
not be followed so rigorously. in this case i believe it is a total waste of
diskspace, creating a 700 mb file for a 50-something minute show, when the
screen resolution is 624x352, and only the bitrate is higher. in this case, it
would have made more sense to increase the dimensions, not just the bitrate... i
don't say that tha quality is not good, no. i certainly would have made a 350mb
file from this one...

about burning dvds: the rules state, that you can burn 13 350mb episodes on a
single layer dvd-r... well, you can't. theres space for only 12, and there's
about 320mb free space left, that i always fill with some additional crap,
(trailers, extras, interviews, promo pictures, etc.) instead of another episode.

conclusion: it's 2007. huge capacity hdds are cheap. broadband internet is
widely available and inexpensive. (i live in hungary, one of the poorest
countries in europe - and even here everyonne can have broadband connection, and
it's affordable.) nobody burns cds anymore. at least not for archiving movies or
tv shows. with recordable bluray and hddvd on the market... i think it is time
to have some new rules...

internet connections are today generally high speed, standard computers on sale
today at least over here are 320gb and over, most people that i know have total
disc space of 1 tb and over.
file size is not of the same importance as it has been in the past, larger files
are more managable so let those who want to put there releases out in 700mb do so.
start bitching when you have dl 700mb of nuked crap.
