hopefully stephen moffat will take over as exec-prod when davies leaves. moffat
is really the best writer of the bunch.

yeah, he is a genius. but he can't be exec-prod, he has to many other things
going. just let him write few stories and you can be sure, you are looking
forward to every episode (series, movie) he has written.

if you want higher quality doctor who
check out demonoid.com and search for doctor who eps ripped by madmartha or [mm]
she puts out a normal release as soon as the ep is up, and then about 8 hours
later she puts out a hq release in full broadcast resolution with bars, and
since its an mkv file its still around 350mb, check one out and youll love the
difference

thanks, downloaded last time from ?her?.
i totally appreciate a container like matroska and video in x264 since both are
gpl'ed
the problem is: why can't this been posted here? since most standalone player
aren't capable of playing that stuff!!! only >=hr720p is posted this way,
because these players can't play it anyways.
but there has to be a rethink. when more and more
mkv/ogg/x264/theora/vorbis-releases are
shared, there will be better and less expensive hardware.
it's like the change from (s)vcd to divx/xvid/mpeg4...and we still are in there,
because some people's 20$/

i dunno, i'm a bit torn. rose was ok, nothing too special (and yet i love
billie piper). she just seemed like your average youngish-woman looking for
love and hanging out with one hell of a "badboy".

plus, it was the perfect excuse for the doc to not put any real physical notice
on his new companion. he's rather old, has quite the memory. he could be
pining for rose well into his next regeneration cycle.

side kick 'thunder-thighs' still ruins it for me though. she
has as much acting
talent as a can of beans.

you're depriving a village somewhere of an idiot.

if you don't like the lovely martha jones don't watch a great show. please do
not insult the rest of us who appreciate beautiful women.

the one person in the world i didnt like was billie piper amd sorry but in the
beauty stakes she does nothing for me, and as an actor i thought she was poor i
really did.

however the new doctor's assistant to me at least is very cute and i dare say
beautiful. as for her acting talent, as far as i am concerned she is an up and
coming actress, who as far as i am concerned knows how to act a whole lot better
than american actors..at least it isnt forced.

i think she as come quite a long way since she took over as the new assistant,
anyone who says
she hasnt, hasnt been watching the show.. give her a chance, seems to me at
least she has beauty and brains, and perhaps the best pairing between the doctor
and his passenger

just my 2 cents,

i missed this last night, thanks for the up much appreciate it

for those who don't know, as it seems there are still people asking for it,
doctor who is not broadcast in hd at all, there is simply no version created
for broadcast. the reason has been explained as being down to cost:

torchwood tends to have maybe one or two major cgi shots per show, thus the
budget per ep allows them to stretch production into hd recording and the
small amount of cgi means they don't break the bank rendering at the higher
resolutions.

doctor who, however, has cgi popping up all over the place, throughout most
eps, meaning the budget just isn't big enough to render the effects at hd
resolutions. this means they only shoot the show as sd and that's all there
will ever be broadcast.

for those wondering why hd causes this problem; think of a box that's 1,000
pixels on each side, inside that box you will find 1,000,000 pixels. now if
you doubled that to 2,000 pixels on each side, somewhat like the jump from sd
resolutions to hd resolutions, the box now contains 4,000,000 pixels a four-
fold increase in the amount of information. most people assume that doubling
the resolution means a doubling of effort, when it's actually a quadrupling,
which means either four times as long to render, or four times the cost; the
production schedule, for doctor who, doesn't allow it and nor does the budget.

great episode! i just recently started watching this show and i absolutely
love it! to be honest, i like martha, but for some reason i liked rose
better...even if her acting was a little off.

i do have a question though, for anyone that can answer. in the previews for
next episode they said series finale not season finale. does that mean that
they're going to have a new doctor? cause i know i read an article where the
bbc said they weren't cancelling the show.
