life on mars was such a cool concept but it wasnt executed as well as i would have liked... one of the best canned series was 'dead like me' canned after 2 seasons.. still well worth watching even tho its frustrating to be left hanging when it ends.. also check out the uk mini series 'sinchronicity' damn good! you probably got all there was to have of these shows though. uk seasons are pretty short - 6 episodes is quite normal. |

kidnapped has been bought for c4/e4 in the uk. while it's unlikely to be shown on c4 i expect it will get an e4 showing sometime. |

the network that aired 'kidnapped' didn't give it a strong or sensible lead-in, showing it after the reality show 'biggest loser' (like a weight-loss version of 'survivor'), and they didn't promote it very well either. they cancelled it after three airings. the ratings were around 7-8 million people, but i read that major networks (not cable) prefer 10million+ in order to keep a show around. the recent trend is to yank a show that isn't drawing those numbers, even within the first few weeks of its airing. on the one hand, more literate shows don't do as well here. on the other hand, 7-8 million people seems like plenty to me -- and why cbs doesn't take the view of nbc, who feels that an even smaller number of viewers for 'studio 60' is ok, given their typically more educated (which they read as typically more affluent) status, is beyond me. |

i dunno where you get your information, veronica... but it was not cancelled after three airings... as you can see by this thread, it's up to episode 5.. so what are you talking about?? and it's still not cancelled, it just looks like it might be soon with the way ratings are going... so far the official status is that it will finish its run of 13 episodes, and is still under consideration for a second season.. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=7229 |

there is an issue with this particular file, due to the method of encoding-it will not play properly on a stand-alone dvd/divx player without re-encoding. i don't know of any stand-alone players that support gmc. it would be great if someone who has successfully re-encoded this would re-up, as a proper? i haven't found anything to do it succesfully here. it seems many people would prefer to watch these via stand-alone players on their tvs; lately i've been finding more series and films that are being encoded differently from the old standard xvid/divx .avis that usually play without issue(burnt to cd/dvd as data (avi) with no need to convert). this is one of the best new us network shows-solid acting, good script, great production values. unfortunately nbc didn't give it much of a chance-it was moved to the saturday evening wasteland to finish the 13 episodes. thanks for the up-it does play fine on computer, with vlc |
