well what ever it is, the 'image' to put it, does not appear so the download
wont start..

i hate rapidshare...

edit - changed the renderer to ie and now it works... and it's letting me get
the rs files, in multiples.

whatever you did, i love it.. woot, getting the episode at 800kb/s is so much
better than having to watch it crawl along.

:)

edit 2 - well fuck knows what you did, it is not a avi file, it seems to have
lost it's extension and appending .avi to it, it still wont play.

if you were sincere, then sorry, it doesnt work, but if you are a malicious
swine, then go to hell and die.

:(

ok... if you get these files, you need to use total commander as the link he
provided says. then combine the files.

then unrar the file

then append .rar to that file.

then unrar that file.

jesus man, a bit of help would have saved me 20 minutes of bullshit, a hex
editor proved it was a valid avi file, but with some crap header involving
details of where it was archived from.

also, simply just split rar files next time - they have the ability to self split.

thanks tho...

columbo: use a torrent client called utorrent (find it with
google).
it\'s free, single file easy install and doesn\'t need the tracker!
it will even run at the same time as other clients (which i\'ve done!)

yeah m8 i do use utorrent, but i dont use dht, thx anyway

just out of interest (i don't want to hog this thread); why not use dht?
does it do something bad i don't know about?

i know some private trackers don't allow it but utorrent is a 'good' client and
won't use dht if the tracker won't allow it.

@ winofiend:

if it's like the last few rapidshare splits that i've seen posted here, then
it's a .tgz archive of a folder with the .avi inside.

try that as an extension on the file, and see if your favourite archiver can
do anything with it.

edit: winofiend says it better above

;) it was.. i had not seen it done that way before, but wasnt going to give up.
i ended up using a hex viewer to see what sort of header it had, and worked out
it had been archived twice.

thanks !!

a few hairs less but im ok now..

thanks for telling us how to put the file together, i appreciate that whoever it
was uploaded it to rapidshare, but he must be a retard. rarring the file up
once to split it into parts is one thing, but rarring a rar file is just stupid.
avis are already compressed, he's basically compressing it three meaningless
times and making it that much harder for ppl to decompress it...

hey all,

any news on the tracker?
(even with dht on azureus wont touch it)

is there a secret to the archived files from rapidshare?
(i downloaded the files, and on linux my default os, the *.rar.aa file is seen
as a gzip file. i changed file extensions on the array and still had no luck in
expanding or listing the contents of the archives.)

anyone with any advice?

cheers

you need to join the files before unarchiving.

unfortunately there is no linux version of total commander but you can run it in
wine. (not a linux user so i'm guessing that's a windows emulator!?)

you may be able to use http://krusader.sourceforge.net/ to join and unpack the
files on linux but i'm not sure. (recommended from total commander site)

if you don't get an .avi file after unpacking the 1st time, add .rar to the name
of the file you get and unpack again. the avi is in there somewhere, honest!

edit: you may be able to use any file splitter/joiner you have by changing the
filename extensions. [.aa to .001], [.ab to .002] etc.

cheers mate,

krusader proved to be a pig and didn't want to do the joining properly. i bumped
it onto another machine and did it on windows with total commander, took 5 mins. :d

i just don't understand why the person who made the file didn't do a 100mb limit
rar array instead of making 1 rar file and then split it after. it would save a
whole lot of disk-space required to extract it.
