New Tricks 4x01 (PDTV-RiVER)

i had never heard of this show before so i looked it up. hope this helps someone:

james bolam, alun armstong, and dennis waterman are old dogs trying to learn
some new tricks. the veteran actors team up in this new police drama playing
retired detectives with wildly different personalities who are recalled to duty
to form a special unit investigating unsolved crimes. however, their
tried-and-tested ways of solving crimes don't always mesh with 21st-century
policing.

amanda redman also stars as the unit's reluctant commander, assigned to the team
after an embarrassing incident halted her ambitious career plans. needing to
redeem herself in the eyes of her superiors, she runs a tight ship -- and that
leads to clashes with the very unconventional older trio whom she commands.

i've seen some episodes on my local pbs station. its pretty good. they are
older actors with some good characters to play and some intelligent plots.

i think it was season one they broadcast.

watched several seasons before , and i gotta say... these old lads impress me
over and over again... honestly , one of the most thought-through shows i know
of ... and believe me , i watch a lot 😉

i've watched the previous 3 seasons and this is one of the better drama/comedy
police shows. at least download the first episode and take a look. well
worth the effort.

now they just need to start the new season of hustle and i'll be happy 🙂

dennis waterman, is the actor that is savagely lampooned in little britain. he
sings the theme song to this show.

i agree, i like this show too.

dennis waterman was one of the biggest stars on british tv through the 70s with
the sweeney and then the 80's with a great show called minder where he also sang
the theme song which was a huge hit.

watched some of the first season, but it was difficult to find, so i didn't get
to keep up. this is the first time i've seen it here. i'd consider it worth
watching if i could get the previous seasons still.

new tricks is a great little show. all of the main actors are very famous -
and popular - in the uk/england in other roles, particularly dennis waterman
(sweeney/minder) and james bolam (likely lads/beiderbecke). this is definitely
worth the download because it was the second part of last year's cliff-hanger.

as for previous seasons, the first 2 are out on dvd (i've bought them because
i didn't get into it until last year) and season 3 is released next month (and
i'll probably buy that too).
