stealing, let's see, i'm not depriving anyone of anything and it is broadcast
for free world wide, only this way it actually looks good on my tv and i don't
need to wait a long time for it, plus if it is canceled locally i won't be effected.
so it's stealing which is all win and no loss, so stealing can be a good thing then.
btw it's called copyright infringement, that's the legal term, not stealing, and
recording tv with a vcr or dvr is also technically copyright infringement. (and
in many places there is no exemption for time shifting)

i don't think this is stealing... the show has been air'd on public tv and i
consider us to be friends who are sharing... i see no difference of us using
modern technology to share vs. the old fashion vhs taping and someone actually
coming to my house to borrow it. its not like anyone on this site selling them
to make money...

so in laymans terms, which one should i download?
lost s03e15 left behind proper hdtv xvid-fqm
or
lost s03e15 hdtv xvid-sorny
or neither??
im guessing there are glitches in the 'sorny' version but how about
the 'proper fqm' version? if so which one has fewer glitches and is more
watchable?

don't buy the entertainment-companies' propaganda (which
includes their warped terminology).
no, let's steal it instead

if your looking for 'the' episode to download, this is the one, i just finished
watching it and it's perfect, not a single glitch or audio problem that i could
see or hear, as rips go they don't get much better.
as for the animosity towards the previous rip and it's rippers, well i hate a
bad rip as much as the next guy, so i'm all for the insults and smack downs,
very little can piss me off as much as crap content...
you know back in the real old days, we used to get friends from the us to tape
the shows and mail them to us, and circulate among several or more friends, it
was a fairly common thing, if you think file sharing is anything new in
concept, your way off, it's just become a lot easier over the years...

circulate ?
well that's weird, c-i-r-c-u-l-a-t-e gets edited by the filter, how funny is
that...

i don't believe that even the most bible kissing conservative rhetoric spewing
mpaa propaganda spokesman could justify that distributing copies of tv shows
once they've been aired is unlawful theft of revenue from those hard working tv
networks.
the producers of any tv show once given a run have already been paid well before
it has even aired. the tv networks then make the advertisers pay up front
before the show has aired. all their job is to justify to their clients why
they should charge premium rates for top rating shows. infact the only people
who care if you watch the commercials after this is the advertiser themselves.
so recording your favorite show every week while pausing out the commercials is
no comparison to dvd-shrinking your mates lost box-set. tv producers know this
and depend on the inferior broadcast version otherwise they wouldn't be able to
hock you all 20+ episodes of the season plus bonus content as soon as it's
finished airing. even podcast versions have been cleaned up to a professional
level.
the only people and i mean these are the only people who have any right to
complain about so-called 'tv piracy' are those stakeholders in tv networks
overseas in the english speaking world ala uk, canada, australia etc. the
common trend is either not enough local productions or what eventually passes as
a finished product is sub-standard unimaginative filler content creative talent
has seen them relying heavily on us imports to keep their revenue stream
flowing, and it really starts to flood when most of the time you don't pay one
cent in production costs.
do many people in the us pirate their own us tv shows? no, because they can
watch them for free hours before they get capped and eventually filter their way
to the p2p sites. its mainly people from other english speaking countries, who
are sick of the second class treatment by pathetic greedy tv networks at home.
