i've seen dvbrip as well, but its probably the same as the dsr that you have.

elsewhere, i've seen 854x480 h264-aac dvb-t, which appears to be ripped from dvb-t and being
h264/aac and 854x480 are a slightly higher quality than dsr/dvbrip as they tend to be 640x360 divx/
avi.

if done well then hdtv, pdtv and dvdrip are pretty much the same (with a slight
notch towards hdtv). dsr on the other hand looks way worse. so it would be more
like : 720p > hr > hdtv > pdtv > dvdrip > dsr > sdtv > webrip .. just imho.

is there a big difference between dsr and sdtv?

also, does anyone know the resolutions for each type?

if dsr is the same as dvb-t, then the source resolution varies from 720x576 at 16:9 (1024x576
corrected) on som of the major channels down to 400x576 at 16:9 (1024x576 corrected) on some of the
minor channels. if you are lucky enough to be in a region that transmits dvb-t hd then the source
resolution is much higher but the digital stream is h264 video plus either 2 or 5.1 channel audio. the
standard dvb-t is an mpeg-2 video with upto 256k mpeg-2 audio.

what you do with the stuff after that is upto the person doing the encoding.

the source capture in any case is quite large, with upto 4gb per hour..

shouldn't dvdrip be above all television rips (apart from the 720p and 1080 ones
i spose)
since most sites delete torrents for hdtv when replaced by dvdrips

video quality is affected quite a lot by the choice of encoder software as well, as a 1080p hd source could
be encoded as 640x360 as an avi/divx with some software and look worse than a lower resolution source
encoded with some decent software at the same 640x360 settings.
