what a bad title for a docu. it is highly suggestive and not at all fit for any
documentary.
sounds as if there is nothing else but drugs guns and money in afghanistan.
judging from the title, this can only be a government fincanced documentary to
rage further hate against afghanistan.
butt i'll dl and watch it anyway, maybe i am wrong and its just a bad title.

you havent read much about afganistan have you? its all opium and hash
everywhere. the reason that the taliban is winning, is because the americans and
canadians wont let the farmers grow their drugs, while the taliban will. this is
seldom reported in the western media. i am sure this is what this documentary
will be about.
it has been said that if the us just let them grow whatever they wanted, the
taliban would be over and done with because they would no longer have any power.

dude, you need to do some research. prior to america's invasion of afghanistan the usa govt turned a
blind eye to their heroin output because it was know that afghani product ended up in europe & not the
usa. so tehy cared less. then when they did invade, the cia & other govt organisations turned another
blind eye so they could look for al qaeda members without pising off the local communities. probably
still like tata now.
i watched this on sbs as well. it was a solid doco.

first, the narrator sounded australian, so this doesn't look like an american
government financed documentary
second, the documentary didn't target anyone, it explained the way things are
whaaaat, to quote a famous canadian (dan aykroyd) \"jane, you ignorant slut!\"
that\'s a pretty bad analogy when most of the \"blame\" in this doc was
upon the former soviet union army and it\'s helping to finance their army and the
kgb. and you are incorrect in saying canada does not let the farmers grow their
opium poppies. as a matter of fact, the canadian army went out of it\'s way to
say that they, the canadian armed forces, would never interfere with the farmers
growing their opium poppy crop. this was on the cbc a couple of months after the
canadian forces went over there as a peace-keeping entity. i think it was cbc
news world or passionate eye or one of those cbc programs. and the cia has been
getting the drugs from afghanistan and thailand and cambodia and other asian
countries and doing whatever they do with them for years! decades, even! i\'m
sure one could find documentaries regarding this as well. i have watched them in
the past so i know they are out there. but we are just sheep and the sooner we
realize that, the better, eh?
when the taliban ran afgahanistan before the invasion they had very strict laws
against the farming of opium poppies. production has jumped massively since the
invasion.
i very much doubt that a strict islamic regime would allow the production of
opium because of the quran forbidding the use of intoxicants. plus the tribal
warlords who lost power, and made up most of the northern alliance, relied on
the income gained from the distribution of opium and hashish for their power and
dominance of their various power centers. during the u.s.'s involvement with
removing the soviets from the country, they dealt primarily with tribal leaders
and the like, and avoided those who came to aide in the removal of the soviets,
the mujahadin, who came from all over the islamic world, including muslims from
europe. haven't watched this documentary yet though.
