yes, probably a ratings decision since according to wikipedia longmire had roughly 1 million viewers more
on average in its first and second season than the glades did in any of its four seasons.
i should add that it is an interesting coincidence that all shows set in florida are winding down or ending
this season:
dexter
burn notice
and now the glades.
i can't say i'm surprised by this. i liked the show a lot, but the writing for this last season has been simply god-awful. it's
been, almost literally, the same script, over and over again, with just a few names changed (not counting the sub-plot, of
course). it went from creative and quirky to simply repetitive and annoying, with our hero running around insulting and
badgering everyone until the solution revealed itself. that i can certainly live without.
didn't magnum have this sort of ending and then it turned around?
good question. i don't know. i haven't seen the whole series, just scattered episodes in
syndication. my favorite parts are that they use sam spade style voice-overs (which is why i'm not a
fan of the dir cut of blade runner) and of course the interaction between magnum and higgins 🙂 it's
fluff, but quality fluff.

my biggest complaint is the way most of the series are ended. leave everybody twisting in the
wind.. how difficult would it be to have one last episode that ties it all together?
from csi miami, to glades. a little closure for the faithful would be nice. while it was getting a
little long in the tooth, the cast of eureka insisted on a final episode to settle everything.
bummer for glades. it doesn't do a bit of good contacting the networks, because they could care less!

that was it in a nutshell. while i really enjoyed the other characters, the jim longworth character
was being grating and annoying with his arrogance. i swore if he picked up one more valued object
and treated it like he was going to destroy it, i'd delete every unwatched episode. three minutes in
to the last episode i watched... yup, the ego. ergo i trashed.
