Matt Smith to leave Doctor Who

the show went down hill when karen gillan left, in my eyes anyway. as much as i do like the rebooted doctor who, i still
miss the old school days of 4-6 part giant episodes.

i was never as into amy as everyone else seemed to be. rory i liked immensely, since he was the first
male full-time companion the new series had, and i just really liked his character. amy i didn't mind, but i
got bored of her as the show went on. and i just don't find karen gillan to be as hot as so many people
claim; she's pretty to be sure, but not as hot as billie piper, and certainly not as hot as jenna-louise
coleman.

anyway, i'm sorry to see matt smith leave the show, i didn't see how anyone could replace david tennant
at first, but he did a magnificent job and really impressed me with his performance. i'd really like to see
them go older again for the next doctor. i think fringe's john noble would be amazing in the role.

so when does jj abrams takes over the future of this franchise? honestly i never really got into dr.who, i
watched the first episode with billie piper and it seems to have as much science fiction as the wizard of oz.

after the initial awe of hot amy pond was wore off..couldnt stand her.. rory was awesome. isnt there a
finite amount of times the doctor can regenerate? getting close to the final one i think

has it really been 4 years of matt smith? i find myself slightly less than bothered he's done..
the last season was a mess from start to finish so lets hope a new face will bring back some of what the
show lost when tennant et al moved on..

this past season was tough..seeing the tardis was cool..and so was the doctors grave..but the plots were
ehh and rushed..no great arcs like the past..i found..matt smith grew on me, the stories seem to fall
short though

matt's leaving already? the reboot sure is burning through doctors fast...

you can't see it, but i'm dancing a little happy dance here.
i have been disappointed in the past two seasons and didn't bring myself to watch more than an episode of
the current season. i never warmed up to smith as the doctor, he mostly just annoyed me. rory was the
best part of his era, amy annoyed me and i never learned to like river song, though admittedly she had
some great moments. clara is just so entirely made of quirk, she'd be best suited on the set of "new girl".

my fave doctor is still nine, ten coming in as a close second, and there ends my top two - i never watched
the original series.

let's just hope we get someone cool and maybe a bit less quirky to be the doctor.

matt smith was a solid doctor who, he was just unlucky to come right after "dreamboat" tennant (and
rose, oh rose...), so people will compare the two no matter what. and let's be honest, smith loses that one
in every department.

smith had his moments, like the one in "the time of angels" when that banner appeared (never in a trap,
etc. "me" ). i felt he was a true doctor, and a good one at that. it's just too bad that later episodes of his
run where so damn awful, plus i never liked the river song nonsense, nor did i really enjoy the childish
romance of amy and rory and how they where written out of the series.

for the next doctor, i hope they go with less british quirkiness, and more solid sf. oh, and a sexy assistant
like rose, who isn't involved with some lame douche bag like rory. just a single, smoking babe...

or...how about a female doctor? i actually think that's the way they will go! give her a male, gay assistent,
and were in p.c. 2014!

see, you write "a single, hot smoking babe" and i immediately hope we get another rory. at the very
least, another donna noble(damn, she was excellent).
no more hot and cute girls who are only put there to be hot and cute and quirky. plotlines! i demand
character development!

i'm not that much of a doctor expert, but yes -- the limited amount of regenerations has been
mentioned before, at least in conjunction with the master.

however, they might have dropped that part when moving to the new show. or they'll come up with
something to recharge him; it's not like doctor who has to be all scientifically sound :-)

as a possible workaround they could also state that the "giving up her regenerations" stunt that
river pulled didn't entirely go into restoring him; at least some part of it might have recharged
his batteries. that would give them a couple more actors to build up some storyline to reset or beef
up his regeneration counter.
